Snippet Workflow is not triggering, but hotkey does

I have existing workflows that stopped triggering. I have used them in the past, but that was long ago. I think I might have upgraded MacOS after using them.
To reproduce, a simple default workflow with default settings is enough:

  1. Node 1: Snippet (//snip//) =>Node 3
  2. Node 2: Hotkey (shift-ctrl-opt-cmd-u) =>Node 3
  3. Node 3: Text View

Pressing the hotkey shows the text view window, but entering "//snip//" somewhere does not.

The debugger also does not show any activity when entering "//snip//" somewhere.

I initially thought that Alfred might not be able to observe the keyboard input, but the hotkey works, which I find weird.

Alfred has:

  • full disk access
  • access to contacts
  • automation (system events)
  • accessibility
  • input monitoring

I'm kind of lost.

Versions:

  • MacOS: Sequoia 15.2
  • Alfred: 5.5.1 [2273]

@DuncanDonovan Welcome to the forum! Could you please create a standard snippet in Features > Snippets and, ensuring that you've enable auto-expansion both as a feature (top right) and for the individual snippet, try expanding your snippet in a TextEdit document. Does the snippet expand?

If not, it's likely that in upgrading macOS, the OS no longer recognises that you gave Alfred accessibility permissions. This is unfortunately common in modern macOS versions when upgrading but is a quick fix.

Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility, select Alfred, then the minus symbol at the bottom. Then re-add Alfred manually via the + button.

See if snippets now expand normally :) Let us know how you get on!

If snippets expand normally, but the issue only arises in your workflow, please share your workflow (via Dropbox, iCloud or any file transfer service of your choice) so that we can take a closer look.

OK, that is funny. My snippets also do no longer work (same issue I guess).

Yes, Auto expansion has been enabled top right and for the snippets.

I think I found the issue, but don't know how to resolve it. Not sure if re-entering accessibility made this appear. Snippets shows above the snippet list:

Feedback:

  1. Perhaps it is useful to also display this warning in the workflow section. Perhaps even when I open the snippet node?
  2. Perhaps it is useful to provide more information on how to resolve "close all windows that request secure input" or point to a web page with information?

Thanks for that. The feedback was related to the fact that I was not using snippets, but I was in the workflow screen. There is a warning on the snippets screen in red, but not in the workflow screen. It might be a good idea to provide the same warning in the snippet node of the workflow.
