Date & Time hour voice on/off toggle +status

Recommended Posts

Hi All, hope all is well.

I'm reaching out today because I have a special need that I would like to try to address it & would really enjoy your help.

I'm a musician and is sometimes really get lost in time as far as hours spent on the computer one of the features that I would like to use is the date and time announcement built into 10.8.X. Also as a musician I need to have a easy on off toggle for this maybe like a voice on/voice off keyword.

Lastly it would be great to be able to check the voice status at any point whether it's on or off.

I've worked in the technical support industry for years and am technically inclined. I would like this to be my first scripting project and would like a gentle guide if anyones willing. I love doing research on my own to simply pointing me in the right direction and letting me go like the energizer bunny would be great.

cheers to all, peace!

How much of a hint do you want on this?

The settings is located in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.speech.synthesis.general.prefs.plist

They can be read with PlistBuddy.

Is that too much?
