Search Contact Only Workflow

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I do not know how to write scripts and trying to do something very simple but couldn't manage. Let me explain my problem: I have so many contacts all around the world because of my professional life that all the time I make a general search most of the results are contacts and it disturbs me.

What I would like to do is to uncheck "contact" in the default search of Alfred so I do not have these long lists of contacts all the time I made a general query. And next to this I'd like a workflow with a shortcut or keyword that will just search into my contacts so I can search contacts just when I want to search contacts... Clear?!?! (not sure...)

I managed to do this in Alfred 1 but coudln't find the solution with the workflow in Alfred 2.

Thanks for your help I'm sure it's very simple for most of you.

Cheeers.

Andrew actually made a workflow for this a little while back, it just hasn't been very widely distributed because this request hasn't been very common. The workflow he created can be found here.

In the other thread where this was mentioned can be found here

Hi,

Thanks for the quick answer but that doesn't work for me :-( It opens a specific research with the keyword but when I start writting the search terms, exemple "vmullot" then it goes back to the standart fallback results of Alfred...

regards.

Does it ever show any contact results or does it just drop to fallback after a certain point?

I retried and in fact it's strange. Sometime it works but doesn't show all the results, sometimes it just doesn't work. Examples: I have approximatively 10 contact with firstname "vincent" but when I write Vincent it goes directly to fallback after I write the first letter "v". In another hand I also have 10+ contact with firstname "françois" and when I write it looks like it works but just show me one result!?!? Strange, strange, ...

Maybe we should try rebuilding your Address Book metadata..  Could you try the method detailed here?
