liatmgat Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Hi! I want to assign some sort of hotkey or keystroke so that my computer will press "alt-`, or, even better, "alt-`, a" which gives me "à." Basically I just want an easier way to type "à" than "alt-`, a." Thank you!
Vero Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Basically I just want an easier way to type "à" than "alt-`, a." Which version of OS X are you on? If you're on Yosemite (and possibly Mavericks, I can't quite remember which version Apple brought this in), simply hold the A character and you'll see a little pop-up with the various accents you can add to the A. This applies to any other character that can be accented (all vowels, the n, s, l, etc...) You could otherwise just copy your "à" character, create a workflow that connects a hotkey to a clipboard output where you check the box to automatically paste to the frontmost app. However, I think the built-in OS X way may be easier as you then don't have to remember a hotkey combo.
liatmgat Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 Thank you Vero!! The program I'm using (Anki) doesn't allow for that cool holding-down-the-key thing. So the clipboard idea will be perfect. Thank you, thank you!
liatmgat Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 It worked!! Yay, I am an accent-typing machine!! Thank you so much for answering me and for making Alfred.
