[Workflow]Shorten URL (support goo.gl/ bit.ly/ t.cn/ j.mp/ is.gd/ v.gd/)

Recommended Posts

My bad, I thought all but google were working. But still, It would be nice if the author would pop in here and fix or offer an explanation of why the bit.ly and j.mp are not working.

On my Mac, bit.ly and j.mp are not working. (They're the same company, so it's not surprising that the results are the same.) Like Gary mentioned above, there is a notification that the address was shortened and copied to the clipboard, but nothing is actually put on the clipboard.

All the others (j.mp, v.gd, etc.) are working fine.

I'm using OS X 10.8.5.

works fine for me with 10.9 - only bit.ly tested so far.

did I miss something? is there a way to link a hotkey directly to a service, so that I can skip the selection?

thanks!

Yep, definitely not Mavericks.

Hzizh, any ideas?

Is anyone else having the same problems?

Hello every one, I'm here to fix and update this Workflow, I just test all the shorten URL services, only (bit.ly and j.mp) did not work well because it reach the limit link number.

To solve this, you should better use your own (bit.ly and j.mp)API Key as I've said #41 this post.

Hi,

Great time saver!

But if I wanted to include amzn.to (which is run on bitly) to shorten my amazon affiliate links... how can I include that?

You can add it yourself according to comments #41

Love this workflow! That said, I'd love a couple of changes even more. :)

Is there any way to simply have the one, two, or three services I use show up? That would be HUGE!

Other than that, I don't really get how the ordering works. Currently, I have google with a zero, bitly with a two, and t.cn with a one. That's the only way I could get Bitly to show up first. Seems odd. Why wouldn't zero be the first one displayed, one the second one, etc.?

Anwyays, thanks for everything! If there is a way to trim down the services available to me, that would be great.

Wow, quick! ;)

The other services are working & I get the notification that the link has been copied to the clipboard but it is still the long link. Noticed it about a week or two ago.

Have deleted the workflow & reinstalled the latest version.

Thanks

Also, the other services automagically paste the shortened url into what ever is at the front e.g. text document or url bar of browser. I'm sure the Google shortener used to do this as well.

Any chance to get lrd.to supported?

The good thing about that is led.to allows you to change the target. For example, lrd.to/myvideo can point to a new version of a video at youtube... which bit.ly can not do.

Hi and good day HzlzH,

Phantastic script!

How would I have to tweak the script if I want to use my Branded Short Domain http://liv-isl.in/which  redirects to bitly.com?

What would I have to write together with the API key? I guess it would be somewhat like this row:

1 : {'api_url':'https://api-ssl.bitly.com/v3/shorten?format=json&login=hzlzh&apiKey=R_e8bcc43adaa5f818cc5d8a544a17d27d&longUrl=','title':'bit.ly','des':'http://bit.ly/'},

Also, could I then skip the step of the shorteners' list, if only 1 shortener is set and the other 5 or 6 are deleted?!

Any chance for one of the talented guys here to get tiny.cc into this workflow ? :)

Or create a own workflow maybe even shorten with custom hash find in the API Doc.

http://tiny.cc/?c=rest_api&m=shorten&version=2.0.3&format=json&longUrl=urlencode('http://example.com')&login=tinyccapidemo&apiKey=YourKey

API Docs: http://tiny.cc/api-docs

Would be awesome.

Perhaps someone has already pointed this out, but in case not...

The way I got the Google shorter to start working again, was to generate my own API key (you'll need to do that in your Google Developer account — set one up if you need to) and add it to the scripting in this Workflow, as follows:

Change this:

0 : {'api_url':'https://www.googleapis.com/urlshortener/v1/url','title':'goo.gl','des':'http://goo.gl/'},

to this:

0 : {'api_url':'https://www.googleapis.com/urlshortener/v1/url?key=YOUR-API-KEY','title':'goo.gl','des':'http://goo.gl/'},

It now works just fine.  ;)

I also added my own API key to the bit.y and j.mp shorteners. Apparently the API used (by the kind developer of this workflow) was reaching its limit. Now those two services also work again.
