switters Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I frequently do research where I look up the references at the end of a scientific paper. The steps involved are as follows: Select the name of the paper in the PDF on my computer, and copy to clipboard Invoke Alfred Use the keyword "Google" to trigger a Google search, followed by typing spacebar Paste the copied text into Alfred Hit return This isn't all that laborious, but I'd love to create a workflow where I could just invoke a keystroke after #1 above and have steps 2-5 done automatically. I've never created a workflow before and I'm not particularly tech savvy. I'd appreciate your help with setting this up. Thanks!
dfay Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 You can skip the copying and use a hot key with selected text as the parameter. If that doesn't make sense reply and I'll put up some examples later
switters Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 You can skip the copying and use a hot key with selected text as the parameter. If that doesn't make sense reply and I'll put up some examples later I tried to figure this out, using the "paste text clip from hotkey" template in the Workflows pane, but I wasn't able to. If you can help that would be great.
switters Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Wait! I figured it out. Thanks for the suggestion. dfay 1
