I just wanted to put in a word for an app that works great to extend Alfred: Keysmith. It's barely been mentioned on these boards, so I figured it was worth a plug.
Keysmith has a very intuitive interface that generates macros by recording actions, even on web apps. Each macro has a URL, so it's straightforward to launch from an Alfred workflow.
The Keysmith website has a bunch of use cases, although some are focused on custom keyboard shortcuts which Alfred powerpack users won't need. My own macros include: One that looks up a copied article title on my university library's Google Scholar access page (which doesn't have a search function that shows up in Alfred). Another creates a new note in Drafts with a copied recipe and then invokes the Drafts action that exports the note to my recipes folder.
There are of course other ways of adding a bit of extra functionality to Alfred. I've used Keyboard Maestro, but found it overkill for my relatively simple needs (see comparison with Keysmith here); I still haven't learned scripting. Keysmith seems to work well enough for "the rest of us." So I encourage folk to check it out--it's free for <6 macros.
Note: I'm not associated with the developer! Just a long-time Alfred user always interested in making things easier, as long as it is easy to make things easier.
