  1. Despite my initial discouraging results, it worked in the end! Thank you very much for the help and advise!
  2. @VeroThank you for the reply and your suggestion. Yes, I indeed used Migration Assistant to move data from my old mac to the new M1 mac (and this indeed seems quite buggy... it ended with an ominous message that "some data could not be transferred", without any hint as to what data is missing, and, well, it didn't copy a couple of gigabytes of data... not very encouraging...) Aaanyway: I actually already tried to reindex via `sudo mdutil -E -i on /` before with no effect, as I was suspecting a Spotlight issue. But I've now initiated this again the way that guide suggests (well, I cheated and directly executed the `reindexdel.sh` script bundled in `Alfred 4.app`). I'll report whether this helps once indexing is complete. However, preliminary results are not encouraging: e.g. Alfred still finds `/Applications/Calculator.app` but not /Applications/TeX/TeXshop.app`; yet Spotlight finds both (while reporting that indexing is in progress)
  3. Sorry, I should have mentioned: Alfred 4.6.2 [1280] on macOS 12.1 on an M1 Mac. Also, Alfred does seem to find the files, just doesn't offer them for me to select. E.g.: Starting Diagnostics... File: 'TeXShop.app' Path: '/Applications/TeX' ----------------------------------------------------------- Check file cache database... ✅ File cache integrity is ok ----------------------------------------------------------- Check if file is readable... ✅ Alfred has permissions to read this file. ----------------------------------------------------------- Check if volume '/' is indexed by macOS... ✅ Indexing is enabled on this drive ----------------------------------------------------------- Check direct file metadata... ✅ Direct metadata available Display Name: TeXShop.app Other Names: TeXShop.app Content Type: com.apple.application-bundle Last Used: 2022-01-26 08:19:14 +0000 ----------------------------------------------------------- Check mdls file metadata... ✅ Metadata contains required items _kMDItemDisplayNameWithExtensions = "TeXShop.app" kMDItemAlternateNames = ( "TeXShop.app" ) kMDItemAppStoreCategory = "Productivity" kMDItemAppStoreCategoryType = "public.app-category.productivity" kMDItemCFBundleIdentifier = "TeXShop" kMDItemContentCreationDate = 2021-03-20 21:48:25 +0000 kMDItemContentCreationDate_Ranking = 2021-03-20 00:00:00 +0000 kMDItemContentModificationDate = 2022-01-25 20:26:29 +0000 kMDItemContentModificationDate_Ranking = 2022-01-25 00:00:00 +0000 kMDItemContentType = "com.apple.application-bundle" kMDItemContentTypeTree = ( "com.apple.application-bundle", "com.apple.application", "public.executable", "com.apple.localizable-name-bundle", "com.apple.bundle", "public.directory", "public.item", "com.apple.package" ) kMDItemCopyright = "版权所有 2001-2019, Richard Koch http://pages.uoregon.edu/koch/texshop/texshop.html" kMDItemDateAdded = 2022-01-25 20:24:45 +0000 kMDItemDateAdded_Ranking = 2022-01-25 00:00:00 +0000 kMDItemDisplayName = "TeXShop.app" kMDItemDocumentIdentifier = 0 kMDItemExecutableArchitectures = ( arm64, "x86_64" ) kMDItemFSContentChangeDate = 2022-01-25 20:26:29 +0000 kMDItemFSCreationDate = 2021-03-20 21:48:25 +0000 kMDItemFSCreatorCode = "" kMDItemFSFinderFlags = 0 kMDItemFSHasCustomIcon = (null) kMDItemFSInvisible = 0 kMDItemFSIsExtensionHidden = 1 kMDItemFSIsStationery = (null) kMDItemFSLabel = 0 kMDItemFSName = "TeXShop.app" kMDItemFSNodeCount = 1 kMDItemFSOwnerGroupID = 0 kMDItemFSOwnerUserID = 0 kMDItemFSSize = 72441206 kMDItemFSTypeCode = "" kMDItemInterestingDate_Ranking = 2022-01-26 00:00:00 +0000 kMDItemKind = "Application" kMDItemLastUsedDate = 2022-01-26 08:19:14 +0000 kMDItemLastUsedDate_Ranking = 2022-01-26 00:00:00 +0000 kMDItemLogicalSize = 72441206 kMDItemPhysicalSize = 75911168 kMDItemUseCount = 2 kMDItemUsedDates = ( "2022-01-24 23:00:00 +0000", "2022-01-25 23:00:00 +0000" ) kMDItemVersion = "4.62" ----------------------------------------------------------- Check file is in search scope... ✅ File exists within Alfred's default search scope ----------------------------------------------------------- ✅ Troubleshooting passed
  4. So I just got a new mac, and with that came the upgrade from macOS 10.14 plus Alfred 2 (which was enough for me for many years) to macOS 12.1 and Alfred 4 (bought the powerpack again as well). All is well... except Alfred does not show all my applications anymore. Specifically, it lists applications in `/Applications`, but not in subdirectories thereof. This is driving me nuts. Note that Spotlight has no trouble locating these apps. Alfred 4 has Full Disk Access, too. I even went to Alfred Preferences and add the subdirectories under "Features -> Default Results -> Search Scope", but that didn't seem to have any effect. Anything else I could try?
