  1. Thanks to this article I was able to fix the issues with searching for files on external volumes, however, there are some specifics and other steps I had to accomplish to get everything to work and show metadata as expected. Here are the steps I had to go through as a final fix. NOTE: My issue was specifically for volumes created with OWC SoftRAID where I was unable to search for files either in Finder or Alfred and none of the metadata would show up in the preview window in Finder. This kept applications like Final Cut Pro from being able to sort on metadata fields. 1. Run the Validate utility on all SoftRAID volumes. 2. Use Disk Utility to run the Repair option. This step gave me an error prior to running the Validate step. 3. Run the Alfred script for search issues. NOTE: This does NOT delete the Spotlight indexes on removable media for some reason. 4. Add the SoftRAID volumes to the Spotlight Privacy tab and let the mds_stores process finish (>1hr on a 12TB volume) 5. Remove the SoftRAID volumes from the Spotlight Privacy tab and let the mds_stores process finish (>1hr on a 12TB volume) 6. Add the /Volume path to the Alfred search list. Running the search test previously gave an error of the path missing. 7. Confirm search results for a specific file on the SoftRAID volume along with visible metadata. Issue solved.
