  1. Hi,

I've just had a new MacBook and have installed Alfred, but can't seem to see how I migrate the preferences and workflows from the old MacBook. I've found this article (https://www.alfredapp.com/help/getting-started/migration/) but I'm passed the Getting Started point. Do I have to back out and restart or is it only possible to start from scratch on a new device, as opposed to an Alfred upgrade?

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Hi

I'm a long time user of Alfred, but most of its capabilities pass me by: I'm no programmer so I use what is up front, obvious and available. I have tried to play with workflows but not very successfully. So we now know my profile/level. 🙂

But I'm trying to find a way to shortcut today's date into a number of filenames, documents, etc, in the format yyyy-mm-dd, so 2021-03-14. I thought it might be something that Alfred offers. And it might but I can't see anything obvious in the options. But that's probably me being technically shortsighted. Before I spend hours trying to find something that doesn't exist or try to configure something that isn't possible I'd really welcome some guidance about whether Alfred has the capability to make this possible. It's probably worth adding that I don't want to change the system date to this format.

    Many thanks

  3. Hi

I know in preferences I can set Alfred to open contacts (which is what I usually require - love the large print option) or have Alfred open the contacts application.

I recently searched for a contact, noted that one of the attributes was out of date and so wanted to open the contact and edit it.

I guessed that the Function key would provide a list of actions that could be performed on the record, as it would when it finds a file, and I could open the contact in Contacts. But it didn't.

It's quite possible that I'm missing something obvious: there is such a lot to Alfred now, and I keep discovering new things. But the option to open a contact that is presented in Alfred would be really useful. To me at least ;-)

    Many thanks.

  4. Hi, I found this thread as I was experiencing the same issue, though there are some differences.

    1:

Having used Alfred to find/use historic clipboard items, pressing 'Enter' does indeed send a lower case 'v' to the Parallels application. But then subsequently pressing CNTL 'v' in Parallels pastes the recovered clipboard item into the App. It's a bit clunky but it does get access to the historic clipboard items in Parallels.

    2:

In Parallels CMD 'v' pastes the current clipboard into the App, so I don't understand why Alfred doesn't emulate this?

    Thanks

    Trevor
