Fresh upgrade to Catalina dysfunctional Alfred finally resolved

After years of perfection from version 1 of Alfred, I recently moved to a new computer and did a fresh install. So no preferences were moved from Mojave. From the very moment of Catalina 10. 15.2 Alfred would irregularly find my applications and folders. Sometimes Safari did not show up. Spotlight would find Safari and then Alfred would find it also. But it could not find many folders, files etc. The behavior was erratic. I did everything recommended. rebuilt spotlight, reset Alfred and reload cache etc.. Nothing solved the problem. I uninstalled Alfred and again installed it. Same behavior.

 

Then 10.15.3 came out. I downloaded the combo update and installed it. And to my delight, Alfred worked perfectly. My suspicion is that either some bugs got squashed by Apple, or the combo update  resolved some installation issues that were a left over from the installation (I bought this Mac with 10.15.2 installed. Either way., I would recommend anyone who has issues to try and run a combo update.
