  1. Link which contains some space like `http://google.com/xxx yyy/` can be changed by Firefox/Chrome into link like this `http://google.com/xxx%20yyy` when you copy it from the Firefox/Chrome location bar.

So just paste the URL in to Firefox/Chrome once before shorting it.

Sorry, there seems to be some misunderstanding. I'm talking about the shortened url.

    The expected output is:

    But the actual output is:

    "
(there is a line break which I did not expect)

    Am I making sense?
  2. Hitting ⌘-[enter] will always open the search at Wolfram|Alpha's website. When you hit [enter] by itself, the workflow sends the output to Growl; if you don't have Growl, it won't work as expected.

Here's what to do if you want [enter] to open Wolfram|Alpha's website:

    1. Open Alfred Preferences (open Alfred, hit ⌘-[comma]), navigate to Workflows > Wolfram|Alpha (in the left sidebar), and click it.
    2. Double click the connection to the 'Open URL' action and change the 'Action Modifier' to 'none'
    3. You can delete the Growl notification if you don't have Growl installed.

Here's a picture to help you out:

Thank you so much for your response. That definitely solves the first problem.

I would really appreciate it if you could perhaps look into the other problem mentioned. It was brought up earlier in this thread, and your response was that you are unable to throttle the script filters and prevent them from firing after every keystroke. But how come other workflows (such as this one: Wikipedia workflow (alternate))) don't face the same problem? I don't mean to challenge you; I'm just curious. Thanks once again for this great workflow.

  3. Thanks for creating this workflow, but unfortunately it doesn't work for me. It shows that I am able to download and install one update (Evernote 4.5 to 4.6), but when I select the option it doesn't actually do anything. I get an Alfred notification saying "Alleyoop: all updates complete" but nothing has actually happened. Thank you for reading this.

  4. Great workflow! The only problem is that pressing return doesn't do anything. I expected it to take me to the search result on Wolfram Alpha, but it actually does nothing.

Also, it doesn't seem to understand when you start / stop typing. It recalculates the search results in a rather inefficient manner.

  5. Yeah, I mentioned that in my initial post. That's the price of instant access. The reason why the workflow runs so fast is that all the time offsets are stored on your computer. If it was to check online for every place every time, then it would take several seconds at least to generate the main list.

Thanks for your detailed response. Is there any way for me to modify this workflow such that it checks online for every place every time? I don't mind that it would take several seconds longer.

Also, thanks for creating this great workflow. The best solution to this problem would be if countries all over the world decided to abandon the silly concept of daylight savings!

  6. When you say "stopped working", you mean it gives the wrong times now?

You should be able to run "timezone update" and it will acquire new offsets for all your stored places. Let me know how that goes.

    Thanks, this solved the problem!

EDIT: The only problem with this solution is that it requires me to keep up with the rest of the world to know when other countries are implementing Daylight savings time. Otherwise, I have to run the timezone update every single time before checking the time in a different country.

  7. Hi Guys,

I've been using Alfred for a while, but I decided to make the plunge into PowerPack just yesterday because I discovered the "fallback search" feature and thought of an interesting use for it. Many of you might also find this useful: http://imgur.com/m4s7m48

If you set DuckDuckGo to be your default fallback search, you can take advantage of DuckDuckGo's powerful !bang searches from Alfred. !Bang, allows you to directly search hundreds of websites. See here for more info: https://duckduckgo.com/bang.html

Now, I simply open Alfred, and type in "!translate ..." to translate something, I type in "!maps ..." to find a location on maps, etc. etc.!
