dansherman
I'd love to be able to select some text, pull up Alfred, type a keyword, and run a script to manipulate the selected text. A lot of this can be done through text services, but it'd be great to do it straight through Alfred. I suppose another way to do this would be to call the separate service from within Alfred. Either way, it would be nice to return some manipulated text.
bencfd
In the Workflows tab, create a new one [+] > Templates > Show Alfred > Show Alfred with selected text. In the settings window, give the hotkey you want and choose to place cursor on left side. Thus, you can type the keyword you want. But be sure that this keyword is linked somewhere else to make the manipulations you want, with a script for instance. At the end, the script can copy your manipulated text to the clipboard. dansherman
I've done that, and it works ok, but I think it'd be even better if Alfred could replace the existing text directly. Especially without involving the clipboard or defining a new hotkey. Edited April 1, 2013 by dansherman
bencfd
This can be done by enabling the option "Automatically paste to front most app", in the "Copy to clipboard" box.
