Can you open a specific template in numbers?

I’m trying to use alfred to open up specific templates in numbers. 
I went as far as using the Open File in A workflow and dragged the specific template file onto the workflow, but it won’t open up. It just opens Numbers with no file or template open. 
any ideas?

What format is the template file, just a standard numbers file? I can see any reason why a file wouldn't open if it's a standard numbers file. If you can share the workflow or more information we may be able to help.
