File Filter workflow for type of file; can you use action modifiers to limit date, where search, etc?

Recommended Posts

Wondering if anyone knows if possible to create a file filter with :

1. one keyword to invoke
2. action modifiers that affect the Search scope.

I use “pdf” to invoke file filter to  search for ONLY PDF files. Searches for all PDFs and only PDFs anywhere on computer

——————————
Example: Is there a way to add a modifier to limit search for PDF files limited by date range.

So:

pdf keyword searches for all PDFs on computer
pdf + cmd searches for PDFS created / modified in last 3 days
pdf + alt searches for PDFS created / modified in last 7 days
——————————
Another example -  use modifiers to affect WHERE search

pdf searches for all PDFS
pdf + cmd searches only for PDFs in SPECIFIED FOLDER

——————————

Goal: have SAME keyword to invoke search with modifiers to further narrow down vs having to create separate workflow for each search scenario.

No, that is not possible. A modifier only affects what action will be performed on a result, it cannot modify the results themselves.

It makes sense. In your method, every time a modifier is pressed or released, the filter would need to run all over again and you’d have to keep the key pressed while you’re interacting with it. It would also prevent you from running on the results actions that use those specific modifiers.

Instead, add and extra letter to the keyword that invokes a different order.
