DJay
Looking for a workflow that just shows the conditions/temperature in a city I type in. Just like "weatherin madrid" There already is a weather workflow from david (thx for that) http://www.alfredforum.com/topic/193-weather-workflow-with-conditions-and-forecast/ But its not that "light" as I expected. Just to see the wether of the city I type in. I can't remember but I thought there was something in Alfred V1 but can't find it. Any Idea or creative mind for a Alfred V2 Workflow? Cheers DJay Link to comment

Just to see the wether of the city I type in. I can't remember but I thought there was something in Alfred V1 but can't find it. Any Idea or creative mind for a Alfred V2 Workflow? Cheers DJay The primary weather workflow for v1 was mine as well I could add "weatherin" to the one for v2, the only thing that worries me is that, using WeatherUnderground as a source, you are limited to 10 calls per minute, or 500 total calls per day on the free account. If I add weatherin, there may be a LOT more calls being made. Right now, the only reason that they haven't killed off the API key is because I hadn't used it in quite some time. Each month that you don't exceed either of those limits, you get an extra "raindrop". A raindrop is like a, "oops, you went over but you have a raindrop so we'll let you keep going for now". I still have 22 more, but I've already used 4-5 since Alfred launched. I know it will slow down some as Alfred progresses. Everyone is downloading and testing stuff and such right now so I expected usage to be higher. Back to the issue at hand though, if I stay with WeatherUnderground, I'm kinda scared that adding a WeatherIn command will cause usage to spike a little more and eventually end up getting the API key shut off unless I have a paid subscription to their API. The bottom of the line subscription would be more than plenty to run this workflow, but would cost me $20 a month. If users gave donations or paid for the workflow, I may could sustain that and add all kinds of things. For instance, I could allow you to set a group of favorite locations and you could check them all at once, see more forecast data, get weather alerts, etc. But, it requires funding. I could try to look for another weather source but a LOT of them are switching to paid subscriptions to their API, which sucks for us.. What are your thoughts on this? Would be cool if I even had a small group of people to be willing to give a recurring $1/mon to help fund it. Link to comment
DJay
sounds good david. and of course you don't have to pay for something other people love to use. but what about other free weather apis? a couple of years ago I a colleague of mine needs a weather api for something. I think he was using http://goo.gl/DHJ38 How about playing around with this. the main thing is that it works for germany I hope. Commercial/Non-commercial Use 500 request per hour Edited March 23, 2013 by DJay Link to comment

DJay
Or maybe http://forecast.io with their API is also a possibility. https://developer.darkskyapp.com btw. forecast.io is a great stylish weather site I absolutely can recommend. Edited March 27, 2013 by DJay Link to comment

Yeah I saw it came out yesterday. I'll look into migrating to it. It provides more daily API calls. I may still use WeatherUnderground for searching for locations. Didn't notice where DarkSky/Forecast.io provided that. Link to comment
