Request: Workflow to display network activity

Is there a way to create a workflow that would display the current upload and download traffic like the information you can get by viewing the network tab in the activity monitor?

I somewhat looked around at this but didn't find a simple solution for determining the current network info. I'm not saying it CAN'T be done but if it can, I'm not sure how right off. I come across all sorts of things every day though. If I find something that would allow for this, I'll post back and let you know.
