gcons Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Newbie question! I would like to get a list of all files from multiple mounted volumes matching a pattern or of a particular file type to be shown in finder. I'd like to see all files that match, not just the first 40 or 200 The files may be found across a number of mounted network folders or on the local machine I can sort and open files from the results (thus I am thinking reveal in finder makes sense) Examples of use case show me all omnigraffle files on this machine and on the mounted drives (I am fine constraining this to a set list of mounted volumes) show me all files with "blah" in the filename on this machine and on the mounted drives (I am fine constraining this to a set list of mounted volumes) Based on my reading so far it looks like a workflow using a script filter may be the only way to do this- is that right? I am open to all suggestions. A sample would be great.
deanishe Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Hi @gcons, welcome to the forum. Yeah, you can basically mimic what Alfred’s File Filter does with a Script Filter and the mdfind command. If you have a lot of such searches, my Smart Folders workflow might interest you. It lets you view your Saved Searches in Alfred.
