How to include search on external hard drive

Hi everybody, I have not been able to find out how to include the search on an external hard drive connected to my MacBook. It is a bit disappointing that such a common requirement is not part of a standard feature but needs to be implemented individually by each user. Anyway, I hope that someone could describe where and how to make Alfred including searches on connected external hard drives. Thanks a lot for your help.
