Apps in ~/Applications/ missing from Alfred (Present in Spotlight)

Hello,

I've been searching the Alfred forum and elsewhere to try to fix this but haven't yet solved it. The issue is pretty straightforward: I have a couple applications (Specifically, PyCharm and DataGrip) that reside in ~/Applications/ as opposed to the standard location /Applications/. If I type "pycharm" or "datagrip" into Spotlight, their respective app shows up as the first hit. Typing the same into Alfred, however, does not produce any useful results (I get all of my external search options, like DuckDuckGo or Wikipedia, but not the option to actually launch the app).

In case it's relevant, these applications were installed using the JetBrains toolbox, rather than the typical App Store / Homebrew other apps have used. I recall having been able to hit JetBrains applications installed this way with Alfred before, but I'm not sure what's changed in the meantime.

Some things I've already done, which haven't resolved the issue:

  • Typed "reload" directly into Alfred
  • Made sure that ~/ is included in my search scope (I also tried adding ~/Applications specifically)
  • Checked Spotlight scope and privacy settings
  • Clear applications cache in Alfred

I chose not to rebuild MacOS metadata, because of the impact and mainly because Spotlight is working as expected, I figured this was less likely to be what's going on.

Thanks in advance for any help!

@Jogim Welcome to the forum.

The first step when you're unable to find files is to use the File Troubleshooter as outlined here:

https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/

Once you've dragged the files in, Alfred will give you more information on the metadata for the app, whether it's complete or not, and any tips on resolving the issue. You can either follow the instructions from the troubleshooter or paste the output here if you'd like more help. :)
