face
I'd like to search for my iCal calendar. In Alfred 1 i've done it as represented in the pic in attach. Frankly i don't remember how to add com.apple.ica.ics.event I've added only ICS File but the search not works. Any help would be highly appreciated. Link to comment

Try this.. instead of setting the file type, remove that, and click over to the advanced tab of the file filter. Click the + and select Other. Set the metadata field to kMDItemContentType. Double click the {query} value for that line and set it to 'com.apple.ical.ics.event'. Save and try again. Let me know your results please Link to comment

jdfwarrior
Great Tip! I am able to find them, but hitting enter doesn't open them in iCal, what am I doing wrong? If you add an Open File to the back end of the file filter, it will do one of two things. If Calendar.app is already open, it will display whatever month/week/etc that the event falls in. If Calendar.app is not open then it will simply open Calendar.app. This could potentially be enhanced with a bit of AppleScript but I don't know. JMoVS 1 Link to comment
JMoVS
Nice! Thank you very much! Next thing: Is there a way to extract date details and display as subtext? Edited May 23, 2013 by !62/7<?3 Link to comment
jdfwarrior
Nice! Thank you very much! Next thing: Is there a way to extract date details and display as subtext? That would require more of a custom workflow. The events would have to be found using mdfind and then read the ics file to get details and create Alfred feedback with the text you wanted. JMoVS
I'm sorry but I neither have the time nor knowledge to pull that off. Was just a silly small idea. ;-) But as Alfred has contacts integration, something like a calendar viewer would be a great thing for a v2.5 ;-) Link to comment
snkhan
Hi, I have attempted to follow this along as suggested by David's fix: Click the + and select Other. Set the metadata field to kMDItemContentType. Double click the {query} value for that line and set it to 'com.apple.ical.ics.event'. Save and try again. However, in running Alfred 2, there is no opportunity to manually enter the metadata or query in the preference pane: Can anyone determine what I might be doing wrong? Link to comment

The way that we were doing it before was through a File Filter in a workflow which is only available as a Powerpack member. Can you confirm that you have purchased the Powerpack? Link to comment

If you go into System Preferences->Security and Privacy and select Calendars.. Is Alfred in the list on the right? Is he ticked? Link to comment
sarayao
Thank you for answering. But Alfred is ticked... Another idea ? http://hpics.li/989cc90 sarayao 1 Link to comment
