Many thanks in advance, Andrew Hi Andrew, When you clicked on "Rebuild OS X Metadata", did you enter your password and press the return key? When you did this, did you see any error messages? Take a look at step 4 here for details of what you should expect to see when rebuilding the metadata index: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/ It should say "Indexing enabled" and "In a few moments, OS X will start rebuilding your metadata index", which confirms that the process has started.
