  1. Screen%20Shot%202013-03-31%20at%2013.42.

    Download (v2.01)

I took nirl's workflow and built it upon it, adding an option to see custom locations in Alfred (populated back into Alfred results).

    Usage:

timein - see the time your default locations (you can setup those in the workflow, easy to remove/add more and modify existing ones).

timein <location> - see the time in the typed in location, including it's flag (without the '<>').

    Credits:

I've used the flags from CarlosNZ TimeZones workflow (with his permission), so a huge thanks for him for having the flags display faster and correctly now (flags were originally taken from this site, so a huge thanks to them as well).

    Notes:

Feel free to take any of the code I written for the workflow and use it, but please give proper credit where needed.

    * Please note that this workflow is no longer in development considering the latest update to the TimeZones workflow, which implements TimeIn as a whole in it. Also, I don't have the time to maintain it as much anymore.

Hopefully you'll continue enjoying the new version of TimeIn in the future, or move over to TimeZones.

  2. yes - much better :-)

flags.... I just used them manually.  probably can add wolfram sub search as well... ill try

Yea, I took a look at your code.

I thought that if not Wolfram, maybe there's another service that can return a flag based on a string, once you have a url to an image it's a piece of cake to push it into Alfred's results.

However, maybe the script will need to be rewritten in Python or another, more powerful scripting language than bash, you can't achieve too much using shell easily.

  3. Creating a workflow and/or site for this requires a lot of planning and distribution of bandwidth and resources. The nature of the new workflows, sending a new request at every character creates a LOT of traffic. It makes it really hard to keep up with. There is another user working to create something similar. Let's wait and see what he comes up with

Ok. Thanks for the reply. I'll keep my head up for something like this.

A source for getting workflows and updating them could be really handy for Alfred 2, as workflows are such a powerful tool.

    P.S

Now that I come to think about it, isn't this something that should be integrated into Alfred 2 itself maybe? I'm sure Andrew & Vero could pull something like this off, and make it as great as Alfred itself is. They already have the infrastructure after all, and other than 'by the users, for the users', or a censorship issue, I don't really see why this shouldn't be a part of Alfred itself (it'll be like a mini-app store, but for Alfred workflows).

  4. Very cool workflow.

Could you maybe extend this to work in an additional format of "timein <insert place here>".

So I could have a default set of cities/countries set up when I type in just 'timein' (as the workflow does now), and if I type a city's name after it I'll get it's current time pushed in Alfred's search results?

    For example:

"timein New York" will show up the time in New York (and maybe pop in an icon for the country? but that's really optional of course).

    EDIT:

I took a little time and added most of what I wanted really quickly. You can get the updated workflow here: http://cl.ly/Nbwe.

I hope it'll be useful to someone, and if someone will be kind enough to try and get the proper location's flag of the location that would be more than great. I tried to query Wolfram for it, but it wasn't very collaborative.
