Easiest way to access {clipboard:0..n} and pass to python and paste to app

What is the easiest way to access several clipboards items {clipboard:0..n}, then pass to python code that transforms these (uses a template) and pastes the result to an app, then hit tab and paste even more text to an active app? Any workflow I can look at to copy?

Use an Args & Vars utility to set a bunch of workflow variables from clipboard macros, then read them with os.getenv() in Python?
