Pressing alt-return searches for keyword in Finder instead of Spotlight

Title explains it all. I have checked and enabled all requested permissions. It is worthy to note that I have changed Alfreds hotkey to cmd-space and Spotlights to alt-space. Does anyone have an idea of whats going on and how I can fix it? Thanks

This is the intended behaviour. It has always worked that way.

 

Spotlight didn't use to have any fancy web/conversion plugins: it only searched your files. So a Finder search was the same thing, just in a real window that doesn't disappear when you click on anything.

 

At this point, it would probably make sense to rename the feature to "Search in Finder" instead.

@deanishe Oh, I see. Yeah I was confused when it opened finder instead of spotlight so I agree with your last point. Thanks man!
