mxtnr
In spotlight i can type "schedule" and open Energy Saver.prefPane with schedule button In other words native spotlight can be used as preferences search too. Alfred misses this so important feature. POI keywords located in the xml files in <key> tags: /System/Library/PreferencePanes/*.prefPane/Contents/Resources/vi.lproj/*.searchTerms .dict > .key exepts <key>Options</key> and <key>PortableOptions</key> Link to comment
Vero
@mxtnr Alfred doesn't include all of the additional keywords for System Preferences panes, as this would add a huge amount of noise to the search results. For example, these are all keywords for which the Energy Saver pref pane would appear, which includes a ton of useless terms: Quote com_apple_system_prefs_keywords = "Sleep settings displays screens monitors brighten dim sleep wake shut down start up power on off electricity green save conserve conservation preserve environmental charge plug unplugged optimize performance processor automatic brightness black blank darkening dimmed dimming sleeping asleep waking awake awaken awakening shutdown shutting powering turn turning saving conserving preserving charged charging plugged plugging un-plugged unplugging un-plugging optimized optimizing optimization automated automating automatically Conserve restart startup starting re-start re-starting Restart after failure nap powernap Power Nap menubar Show battery status in menu bar" If you'd like to show the Energy Saver preferences for the keyword "schedule", you can create a little workflow connecting a keyword to a "Launch Apps / Files" object, allowing you to launch using that particular keyword without adding unnecessary noise to your results. h2ner
After having tried Alfred here and there over the years, in the last few days I've started to switch over from another. I'm not sure if it's a good idea though it'd be quite interesting, and if there was a way to rank results, having such preferences appear near the bottom, until they're used, would be interesting. Perhaps as how Alfred does matching evolves over the years, it could be a consideration. Interestingly, even defined Web search shortcuts are not searchable by name. Link to comment
