  2. Hi. Just found this workflow on the Alfred Gallery and it looks pretty great. But I can't get it to work. I am using version 2.16.1 of workflow. I requested and activated an API key but it seems to be an 8-digit number, is that correct? When I use the workflow, every time I only see the message "Uh oh, something went wrong." What am I doing wrong?
  3. That's clever @GatorMapi. But again too much trouble. With the previous text expanders I have used, I can have a snippet "ty" that is set to expand to "thank you." Then the following automatically works: ty → thank you Ty → Thank you Ty. → Thank you. type → type [no expansion] archetype → archetype [no expansion]
  4. Good thought, @GatorMapi, but that's too much work (and wouldn't allow expansion with punctuation). It will be easier to just use a 3rd party app (as I was doing before).
  5. So it's performing as designed? Most text expanders that I have used expand the snippet when end of string is reached. That would be more useful, IMO. Maybe permit that in the future as an option? Thanks.
  6. Yes that was my understanding, as well. That was similar to the example of what is happening to me. But if the box is unchecked the snippet should not expand until I end the string with either a space or a punctuation, right? In your example, with the box unchecked, shouldn't I be able to type the word "archetype" without any problems?
  7. Hi Vero and thanks for your response. I think my question was unclear. As I understand the Snippets function, a text string is expanded after the snippet is typed. For example if I have a snippet "ty" that I wanted expanded to "thank you" the snippet should expand after I've typed the string "ty" followed by a space or punctuation, but not another letter. ty → thank you But this should not occur if "ty" is part of another word, so that I can type the word "type" without a problem. However that's not what happens. As soon as I type the first 2 letters of "type" it expands to "thank you." type → thank youpe This is not expected behavior, because I unchecked "Expand snippets mid-string" in the options. What am I missing?
  8. I have been looking forward to transitioning to Alfred Snippets from another text expansion program. But try as I might, every snippet expands before I've typed a delimiter (punctuation or space). The option to "Expand snippets mid-string" is unchecked. I have verified this behavior with every snippet I tried. This makes Snippets very difficult to use. Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong? Alfred 5.1.1 MacOS 13.4 (22F66) Thank you. Danny
  9. Brilliant! Thank you. I really love learning how to be more productive with Alfred and benefiting from its awesome community of developers.
  10. Ah never mind. I figured it out. I didn't realize I could set {query} by adding {query}={var:QueryText} in the Arguments section right before the second text processing Automation Task. Now it works perfectly. 😀
  11. Thanks for the response, Stephen. I thought about that, but I thought the Automation Tasks take {query} as an input--how can I make the Automation Task take a variable as an input?
  12. I wanted to create a automation task workflow that does both a word and a character count on a selected text string. I found Stephen Christy's excellent workflow for word count. With this as a model, I created a character count workflow and then my next version had a dialog box asking user to choose word or character count. Both worked great. However, if I want a workflow that displays both, I can't get it to work. I tried running the automation tasks sequentially and then in parallel, but both failed in different ways. I think running these sequentially makes sense, conceptually, but I think the input gets stepped on so it doesn't exist for the second automation task. How can I maintain the same text input for for both text automation tasks? Thanks.
  13. There is a great app, available on iOS devices and now also on Mac, called Voice in a Can. I wanted a way to open the app, with a keystroke or keyword, and start it in listening mode. So I created a simple workflow for it. It's on GitHub. Comments welcome. Danny
  14. I created a workflow is for a niche group of users: healthcare professionals in the US who use Doximity Dialer to call or video with patients. (For those who are curious, it replaces the caller ID with your practice phone number or a phone number of your choice.) I uploaded the workflow to GitHub (which I have not previously used for my own projects). This is my first shared workflow, so please be kind with your suggestions. Danny
  15. 🤦‍♂️ I see now that the files I tested on were older and had not been downloaded from dropbox and icloud. I was trying to preview the pointer files. When I test files that have a local copy it works fine. Thanks again for great work.
