Justforfun
Hello, I installed Alfred5 and it keeps trying to go out to an External Private Address 192.168.28.1. Why is this. PFSense blocks this activity. Why would Alfred 5 go out to a private address constantly Link to comment
Andrew
@Justforfun The only local IP address Alfred would natively interact with is an Alfred Remote connection (or the underlying macOS Bonjour framework for discovering if a configured Alfred Remote connection is currently available / online). If you don't have Alfred Remote configured, look through your workflows to see if you have one installed which interacts with something on your local network, an example being Philips Hue or another Homekit item. Have you looked at what 192.168.28.1 resolves to? This might give you a clue. Cheers, Andrew Link to comment
Justforfun
I actually just installed it and dont have any workflows. In fact if I choose to block the connection then Alfred will not work. Pic of access request. This is different address Link to comment
Stephen_C
The IP address you have given is on your local network and appears to be the default router login page. Stephen Link to comment
Andrew
@Justforfun Port 53 (in the screenshot) is used for DNS, so for example, if Alfred wanted to find out how to connect to our software update server, he needs to ask the DNS how to find our server. In this case, It's likely your network is configured with the DNS servers as 192.168.20.1. It could alternatively be a configured proxy server DNS lookup. Could you type ?diagnostics into Alfred and email the exported output to our info@ address and I can take a look at your configuration. Thanks, Andrew Link to comment
