bichonfrise74 Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I created a workflow and named it 'mailing', but when I type 'mail' in the alfred console, the Mail.app is the first one to appear. See the link below. http://postimg.org/image/wb81jtce5/ Is there a way to remove the Mail.app result? Also, I am not using Mail.app so I am okay with removing it. Thanks.
Easytiger Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I am not sure what exactly you want to do with your workflow. If you want to write an Email, there is such an option within Alfred. There are also other workflows around here for mailing. You could just change the keyword you use to start the workflow, e.g. "Email" (although this is used within Alfred itself).

Alfred should learn that you prefer the "mailing" keyword over Mail.app over time. If you are having trouble with this, you may have success by clearing Alfred's knowledge and then trying again. You could also try adding Mail.app to Spotlight's privacy section to prevent it from showing in results

The keyword that I am using is actually not for email, it is for something else. But I could always change the keyword to avoid having this issue... thanks.

How long does it usually take for Alfred to learn/prefer 'mailing' over Mail.app? Also, how do I clear Alfred's knowledge? Thanks.

Resetting Alfred's knowledge is available in the Advanced preferences. Afterward, it shouldn't take long for Alfred to learn your preference
deanishe Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 (edited) Alfred will usually pick up very quickly on which results should be prioritised for which keyword provided you stop typing at mail and select the desired result from there. At any rate, for workflows you use super-often, a good trick is to prefix the keyword with a punctuation mark like a comma or full stop (period), e.g: .mailing or ,mailing or ;mailingThis will exclude Alfred's default results from a search, and just .m will probably be enough to bring your workflow right to the top. For example, I type st to open Sublime Text, but use .st as the keyword for my Sublime Text workflow. That way, st shows me Alfred's default results (with Sublime Text at the top), but .st only shows me a list of my Sublime Text projects (provided by the workflow). Edited July 30, 2014 by deanishe
