  1. Here is also 5.5.1. How can I help you to debug it?

    I made more tests.

Here Evernote display some newer notes first (but not all of them) and then I get mixed results.

Only keyword enrec is displaying properly (most recent to least recent) but it does because the workflow parses the note updated date within current week.

I’ll create an Evernote developer ticket about this. I does a lot of sense to get results from Evernote in a chronological order instead Evernote internal order (which I assume it is happening).

  2. Hello Carlos! Answering a suggestion from me, you have reversed the results for ens keyword to show recent notes at the top of the list:

Would be possible to do the same for enu keyword?

I’ve made a tweak. The problem is Evernote does not return search results in a consistent order. It seems that it is using an internal Evernote order.

This workflow has become so indispensable for me I would gladly have paid for Alfred if it was the only thing I could have done with it. My only vexation is that I haven't quite managed to understand how to append the selected text to an existing text file WITHOUT appending the current date. I keep various References list for language learning and other disciplines I really don't care about the date I came across this or that piece of information information so long as I have an uncluttered list in a single file. Which means I afterwards have to go back and delete all the appended dates. Am I being particularly daft or is there really no way to not include the date in the first place? Forgive the fussiness, but it really is my only inconvenience. Thank you for the workflow, it is an absolute gem.

Note that if you use the keyword enn you always had the option to append a note with current date (option key) or without a date (command key).

When using search keywords such as ens or  ent, the append was always without current date. However now you can set if you want or not a date when appending from a search keyword by running the enpref keyword.

I’ll add a way to exclude the date. I hope to finish the update this week. I’ll let you know. Thank you for your feedback.

  4. Overview

List hidden files in Alfred from Finder current window or from a select folder in Alfred File Browser (File Action).

The workflow does not change Finder files visibility. It will only list those hidden files in Alfred itself.

If there isn't any Finder window then the workflow will list hidden files from the user home folder.

  5. Thank Carlos - still not working, but I switched to automatic and that is fine for me.

Been using this workflow since you built it. Great work. Thanks

I made some tests and it seems OK. However, later this week I’ll make even more tests to see if I find something wrong.

    Thank you for your feedback.

  6. Hi There -

I noticed in that using wildcard character * no longer works for ENT. For example ENT *note keyword* used to return any note that had "note keyword" in it's title. Wonder if this is due to the latest Evernote Beta version for Mac 5.5.1 Beta 3?

Please, run the keyword enpref and make sure Search Wildcard is set to Manual.

PS: I’m not using Evernote beta.

  7. Overview

Playlist to Folder is a workflow made as an alternative to the great application iTuneMyWalkman that stops working on Mavericks.

It basically copies the songs from selected iTunes playlists to any folder (including SD Cards), optionally convert to mp3, remove diacriticals (e.g. á to a), remove hidden OSX files and creates an UTF-8 m3u playlist.

Why would you use this workflow? You may ask... Well, my car multimedia system supports SD Card and some audio types as well as m3u playlists. However, altough it is a 2013 A4, it is extremely picky about what it will actually read properly. For instance, it does not read all m4a purchased from iTunes, just some (go figure). It reads diacriticals in filenames but not in a m3u playlist (go figure, again). Finally, the m3u has to be encoding in UTF-8 otherwise it will not even recognize the file at all. Until Mavericks iTuneMyWalkman was working fine but now I kind of had to make a solution for my car and I'm sure others may use it as well.

    Settings

Although the workflow works in both my Macs I'm almost sure it may not work in all systems due the fact that the workflow calls common dialogs to select playlists, destination folder and whether it should or not convert tracks to mp3. Here is what you should see to select playlists:

    playlisttofolder_4.png

Anyway, settings are simple as seen below:

    playlisttofolder_3.png

    • Step 1: the workflow will show a list of iTunes playlists; select the ones you would like to export; as seen above, the workflow shows the current selection; press SHIFT key if you need a better view of the playlists;
    • Step 2: the destination folder can be any folder, including a SD Card; in this folder the workflow will create a m3u playlist file and a subfolder with the playlist name (where the tracks will be copied); press SHIFT key if you need a better view of the destination folder name;
    • Step 3: you have the option to convert the track to mp3 if necessary; just set Yes to enable the conversion;
    • Step 4: start exporting with some interesting features:
      • Since it can take several minutes to convert and copy several files to a e.g. SD Card the workflow updates the status and you can check the progression by running the workflow again (see screenshots below); just note that it is not enough to just let the Alfred 2 window showing, you have to run the workflow again;
      • Made a mistake? No problem. The workflow was made in a way that you can Cancel the operation; just hold Command Key then hit Return key (after the current operation is done, like copying a file, the process will be canceled); to resume, run the workflow again; however, if you need a fresh start you have to manually delete the files in the destination folder

    playlisttofolder.png
    playlisttofolder_2.png

If you remove or add some songs from a playlist that you already have copied the workflow will remove or add the new files and update the playlist without the need to start all over again. It's faster this way but if you face some issues try to delete and copy again.

    Download Beta 2

This is a first release. So far it is working fine in both my Macs and my car audio system seems to handle very well the files and playlists.

However, make some tests and use this workflow with care.

    What's next:

    • improved post notification
    • new icons

  8. This is an EXCELLENT workflow, basically the reason I purchased the Alfred Powerpack!

That aside I have noticed a few things with the reminders features - I am attempting to combine alfred+evernote+this workflow to become my new task management suite. My observation is that when I use the "enr" command it only shows reminders that have an assigned due date. The other observation I have noticed with evernote is when I create a reminder through enn @Reminders !Tomorrow :Do Good, the resulting note "Do Good" has a due date but the little clock is not highlighted in Evernote and Evernote does not register the note as a reminder.

I also created a trigger key that feeds "enn @Reminders !" into Alfred so I can start creating my reminder right away. Is there any way to create a reminder without a due date? i.e. enn @Reminders !none?

Thank you again for this fabulous piece of software!

FYI: the reminders issue was reported to Evernote developers.

    Thank you!

The keyword enr lists due and overdue reminders. Evernote doesn’t have an AppleScript command to handle reminders without a due date.

About the Evernote little clock: while making the workflow I have noticed that. It seems more an Evernote bug because the reminder is set but Evernote is not updating its interface.

Reminder without due date: again, Evernote does not have an AppleScript command to handle reminders without a due date. Maybe you could create a feed with a past date.

Anyway, let’s hope the next Evernote version fix some issues and improve its AppleScript commands.

  10. Maybe you have to enable the public folder in your account: https://www.dropbox.com/help/16

I am stuck trying to find my Dropbox ID. Whenever I create a Public folder, it creates it, it notifies me I already have a public folder and then deleted it. The weird thing is that I don't have a public folder.

Any idea how to find out your Dropbox ID in another way than using the public folder and share a file?

    Cheers!

  11. It seems this workflow can not recognize the tag start with "#" symbol. i.e. "#To Buy"

When I want to create a note with tag "#To buy", it's not workable.

Is there any chance to update or It should other solution I don't know? ^_^

Hi there - I love this workflow.  Thanks so much for putting this out there.

I use the Getting Things Done workflow suggested by thesecretweapon.com, and in this I use a number of tags that start with @, such as @Home, @Work, and @Town.  Is there any way to escape the @ symbol so it can be used in a tag?

Here's what I used to do when adding a task, which worked well:

    enn Some Task#1-Now,@Home#GTD

Here's what I tried that doesn't seem to work now:

    enn Some Task @GTD #1-Now #@Home

When I try this, it tells me "You can only create a note in one notebook at a time"

Here is a new version (still a beta one) that starts to add support for a tag like #ToBuy or a tag like @Home as well as notebooks names that start with a hash or an at sign.

Please, make some tests and let me know. Thank you.

  13. Hi, this is the first workflow I imported so I am trying to understand how I can use it.

I am not able to figure out how I type the title of a note and then add something else to the body. Thank you.

To type a note within Alfred:

    1. Bring Alfred

    2. type the keyword enn

    3. type your note (in this case note title and content will be the same)

    4. highlight “Type a Note” and hit return key

Check the workflow Help (keyword en?) for more details.

this workflows' so smart and elegant that it makes me want to study some applescript and make my mac work for me XD

Thank you! AppleScript is not that hard. You can find a lot of examples making things easier. For me it’s kind of a hobby. :)

  15. Thanks for the update. I installed, and restarted, my computer. First step keyword is still "ew" for me. And paste back is still "pb" for me.

I don't think I really care what the codes are, but is there some reason editwith and pasteback are not working for me? BTW editith? does bring up Help.

Also the cursor goes to the very bottom of an email for me now, whereas before it did go to wherever it had been placed before initiating Alfred.

    Please, try to:

    • delete the workflow from Alfred
    • make sure Alfred 2 is updated
    • download it again: Edit With 3.0
    • install the workflow

I didn’t change how the cursor is placed but make sure to not have unnecessary empty lines because the workflow is set to go to the end of the document.

  17. I apologise for the offense (I truly do, in all honesty). I actually considered not posting that, has I did not want to hijack the thread, and truth is I really like your workflow, and many others of yours that I continue to use (the imgur one being the most used).

I did not mean to devalue your work in any way. This workflow (yours) is made with a specific use case in mind, that you even state in your goal — write the text on a text editor, convert it and bring it back. Even though that’s a perfectly valid objective, it is not mine (I want to write my text directly on the forum’s reply box). That, coupled with the fact that some substitutions are not to my liking (a complete matter of personal preference), made me decide to write my own.

When seeing a fellow user struggling with some limitations, I pointed him (her?) to a working solution. I’ve never been shy to use the best references I have to point users on these forums to answers to difficulties they’re having, be them helping with code, or pointing to a relevant workflow that might solve the issue, even your own (specially your own, since I’ve been using them for a while). This time, the only workflow alternative I’m aware of for this task, happens to be the one I’ve built. I was not trying to be malicious.

I did, however, as mentioned, think twice about posting, so in doubt I should’ve checked with you first since it’s your thread, and I do apologise. Again, this is sincere, I’m not being facetious in any way. I have not removed the link, as editing it after the fact would look like I was trying to avoid blame, but if you so wish, I’ll remove it and/or the posts themselves.

OK Vitor. Congratulations for your workflow. Nice use of regular expression.
