  1. Thank you for this update Carlos! I have one tiny little annoyance I can't put my finger on. If I do NOT select an item first, I get the follwing in the results title line: "Seletc items in Finder first" : notice the spelling? I looked over the scripts and it appears to be spelled correctly in them, sooo, any idea where this is coming from?'

    Sorry, I found it, it's in "zip_filter.scpt" line 8

    Thank you! Fixed. :)

  2. This is awesome

    Great workflow, really useful

    Thanks

    Thank you.

Thanks a lot for this :)

What do I use to select destination when I don't have a "fn" key, using the wired Apple keyboard?

I completely forgot about wired one. I will use less the fn key for now on.

I updated the workflow to use the control key (download link in initial post).

Anyway, you can change it by double clicking the fn as seen in the screenshot below:

  3. Any progress on selection of folder? I have tried this myself, well, just making the zip on my desktop with AppleScript and with BASH ... I can make a zip on my desktop with ditto, but, it's just not as nice as this workflow is overall! I just personally hate that Finder insists on putting archives in the root folders.

    OK.

    Version 3.0 is out:

    • Select the destination folder by holding fn key (keyword zip)
    • Updated to Alfred 2.0.3 (187)
    • Alleyoop 2 support

    See initial post for details.

  4. Carlos-Sz,

This is what I was looking for. And It makes sense to have it as a file action. It is kind of weird that it makes you return to the regular alfred window once you choose the file action but I guess there is no other way of doing this. Thanks!

Great! When I started using workflows that made me return to Alfred window I thought the same but after awhile you get use to it and then it becomes natural (like in To Do workflow).

To be honest I forgot about it.

I’ll add it to my to do list. Thanks. :)

  6. First of all, sorry for such late respond… To much to do, but so little time. :)

Carlos, your version is exactly what I was intended my workflow to do! It’s clearly commented, so I was also able to learn something new.

Wouldn’t you mind if I will update my first post for your link as the new version?

And one more time, great thanks for help! :)

    Yes, you can update.

    I’m glad I could help you. :)

  7. Hello.

First of all, thank you very much for your work in making this workflow.

I just installed 5.1 and yet I still am having trouble getting the workflow to work on one of my machines.

I have my Alfred workflows synced between an iMac and a MacBook Air using dropbox.

The installation works just fine on my iMac but not on my MBA.

I actually installed the workflow on my MBA too. But it won't let me create a new note using the 'ennew' command.

I have other workflows synced up and installed like this with no problems.

I was wondering if anyone else encountered such a problem and had any ideas how to fix it?

    Thanks.

I sync mine installation too and everything is fine.

    I’m using Alfred 2.0.3 (187).

Please, try to delete the workflow in both your Macs. Download it again from the initial post. Install it in your main Mac first then let the other sync after the installation.

You can also try to restart Alfred (not Alfred Preferences, Alfred itself).

Soon there will be a new version made for Alfred 2.0.3 (187). This Alfred version has some AppleScript improvements that Evernote workflow will use it for sure.

  8. Version 1.0 is out:

    • Find and Replace with Regular Expression support
    • Additional steps (remove space, remove diacriticals, capitalize etc.)
    • Improved Recent Expressions
    • Presets including default ones (ready to be used)
    • Quick look (SHIFT key) available at any time
    • Improved Quick Look layout
    • Warnings such as different extension or no extension at all (Alfred and Quick Look)
    • Check for eventual duplicated names
    • File type icon displayed to quickly help identify what you are renaming
    • Help keyword: regex?

    Note: requires Alfred 2.0.3 (187)

    See initial post for details.

  9. To New Folder

    Overview

Alfred File Action to move or copy selected files into a new folder. You can also use it to only create a new folder.

    Suggested by roza.

    tnf_01.png

    How to use it

    • select files in Alfred browser
    • select “To New Folder” action
    • type the new folder name
    • select Move, Copy or New Folder (see screenshot above)

    Version 1.0
    Release date: 20 Apr 2013
    Supports Alleyoop 2

  10. Hi David, the above workflow is not working for me at all (which could be because I don't quite get how to use it). Essentially, what I am looking for is this: I want to select several files in Alfred and be able to navigate to a particular folder (all working well) -- what I am missing is a way to easily create a new folder to put the files in. It seems counterintuitive to me that I can do all these things in Alfred but when it comes to creating a folder I have to return to the finder. Essentially, what I am looking for is a "make directory" command in Alfred file navigation which creates a new folder in the current folder. Thanks for looking into this!

    David was faster!

Anyway, here is my approach considering your suggestion:

    • Right now it works as an Alfred File Action only
    • Select the files in Alfred browser, select “To New Folder” action then one of the 3 options below (move, copy or only create a new folder):

    Downlaod now

  11. Can I piggy-back on this question.

I am using the Evernote 5.0 version of the workflow, which is a little gem. However, I can't get it to operate if there are multiple files in the buffer. If I select a single file and then hot-key the actions I get 'send to Evernote' at the bottom of the list, but if I highlight more than one file and then try the hot-key i don't get the 'send to Evernote' option at the bottom of the list.  Am I missing something here?

And secondly, could I get this to play nicely with Hazel? I have never succeeded with 'watched folders' but it occurs to me that if I set up a Hazel rule to watch a folder it could 'send to Evernote' automatically. Would that work and how would I do it?

    Thanks for any help.

Evernote 5.1 supports multiple files. Download it now.

Here is a Hazel rule for Evernote: link

This is spot on. Top work!

    Thank you.

Nice idea. I’ll try to make a workflow for you.

  13. Ok so it looks like it is working correctly. I didn't realise the expected behaviour was to now manually install after running Alleyoop.

    Thanks for your help!

    Best,

Great Alex. If you need any help please let me know.

    Hi,

The workflow does not accept multiple files at this time but I’ll add support for it. I’ll let you know.

I’ll see what I can do about Hazel.

    Thank you for your feedback.

  14. Is there any way to rename files to a websafe format with regex?

OK. The next version will also support regular expression with find and replace allowing you to e.g. remove white spaces.

In addition, it will also have a command to remove diacriticals so you can clean not English names too such as café to cafe.

Finally, I’ll add some presets so you can easily use the workflow for some basic and kind of common renaming tasks.

I still have some things to test but I’ll post a new version soon.
