As for sticky mode I prefer 2 key assign for trigger it. One for per app hotkey and one for global system commands. My keyboard layout is really different but if I am using normal layout I would most likely use "/" and "z" for easily pinky press which leave rest of the strong fingers to type rest of the character.  Those 2 keys are rare use so avoid how the "sticky key" alphabet character could show up when key is up instead when key press down ( just flow better on screen ), Also when I am typing fast I often smash 2 to 3 keys at the same time which will cause problem. I found being able to chain 2 character after the sticky key is enough, no need for the 1 character as an alphabet as well. There is no right way but YOUR way, use what ever make sense to you :)

this is my reply to nikivi on Karabiner github page, I think it's worth to share here. for readability and the limited number of hotkeys combo could be used.

skimming thru your XML, I am guessing you are assign a lots of hotkey to trigger "Keyboard Maestro" and "Alfred" workflow or opening apps, there is better way to do it without using a single hotkey too

    to launch apps
    https://pqrs.org/osx/karabiner/xml.html.en#vkopenurldef

to trigger "Keyboard Maestro" via applescript
    https://www.keyboardmaestro.com/documentation/6/triggers.html
at the end of the page

    tell application "Keyboard Maestro Engine"
do script "[Name or UID of Your Macro]"
    end tell

    to trigger "Alfred" via applescript
    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/workflows/triggers/external/

Have you upgraded to Sierra already? I am curious, does it already have launcher mode support?

  2. Oh, this makes sense then. Thank you for the updates.

There is an issue though. It seems the urls I get, have a space at the end of it, so for example, I make a screenshot and try and paste it here :

    xwebnMl.png

The above, after pasting, will become this :

    7X6hb4u.png

I have to press delete every time after pasting. Can you help fix this issue? Thank you.

  3. I want to preview pdf files I search in Alfred but bind it to another key. Right now Alfred uses shift to do this, but I can't use shift as my left shift is alfred trigger and right shift is delete on single presses.

Can I somehow preview files found not with shift in Alfred?

    Thank you for any help.

  4. I use the default timing that goes with setting 'BlockUntilKeyUp_' and never had the problem.

In fact, I now have every key, 'sticky', even space. :)

I thought it would conflict with my vim leader key being space but it turns out not to be a problem once you get used to it. And yes, this is very very powerful and saves you a lot of keystrokes. I have my i stickied to insert various hard to reach symbols like (\$/|&<?*^..), writing markdown is a joy now.

  5. Oh wow, that's strange. These are the tags I have :

    7X63wEE.png

And this is what I get from the list :

    3zb4USw.png

So I guess it shows all the other tags I once had. Is there a way to filter to only ones I use currently, the four there? Or perhaps more if I do decide to add more to the tags?

Once that is done though and I have my list view of correct tags, how do I make a search only on that specific tag?

Thank you a lot for your help, deanishe.

  6. With hazel, I started to make use of my finder tags and now I wish there was a way to quickly search and find through the right tags.

The native method built in with alfred is not enough as I have to try and remember the name of the tag to filter though.

It would be amazing, if I can call the 'tag workflow' and it will show a list view like this :

    wkoH0I4.png

But instead of months, it will be my tags :

    OiuOezt.png

    8nGMZXq.png

Pressing on one, would allow to make a search scoped to the tag. Can such a thing be done?

Thank you a lot for any help. This would be really useful to have for me and I hope few others.

  7. I am really curious how do you guys take use of the file system navigation and actions built into Alfred?

I just realised that I can 'right arrow' on any file and go to the file system action mode :

    BOuOa6f.png

But I am curious how can I better bring it to use for my own workflow. How do you guys use it, if you do use it at all? :)

  8. I have this keyword action :

    8efqqEu.png

I want it to show up only when my current active window is Safari. In all other cases, it should not appear in Alfred. How can I do that?

The above is just an example, I actually want to bridge the gap between keyboard maestro and Alfred by being able to see the specific macros I have made for the current app.  I will then attach this keyword to an applescript that runs the km macro.

    Thank you for any help.

  9. I am curious because just now I realised that I can map it to a single click of left shift with karabiner and it is amazing. Before it was on my right command with a single click too. I also use shift from the keyboard by holding down semicolon so I don't worry if I ever accidentally press shift while writing capital letter. Seriously, an alfred trigger on just the left shift is phenomenal.

What are your guy's trigger for opening up Alfred? :D

    Hi Giovanni,

Apologies for the oversight - I thought I'd already replied to your message!

Your message inspired me to write a more detailed blog post on using tags to search with Alfred, so you can take a look here:

    https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/tips-and-tricks/3-ways-to-use-osx-tags-for-better-search/

The third way to search is what you'll be looking for :)

    Cheers,

    Vero

Thank you for the article. It was very useful. Is it possible to make a trigger to search for the specific tag but when the alfred window comes up, the results will be shown already in the window?

For example, right now I trigger my specific tag search with a hotkey and I get this window :

    Dx3sjlZ.png

    It's empty.

I wish, I add a trigger, press it and it will show all the files in that current tag already like this :

    K4guwSW.png

Write now I need to press space every time after the trigger and I am not even sure that would show me all the files.

    Thank you for any help.

  11. I started using tags to better filter my files on my mac and I want to make a workflow that would give me a list of my tags. For example I trigger a hotkey and it will show me a list of current tags that I use with a number of files that are tagged with this tag. Then I can scroll through and select one I need, press return and I will be greeted with all the files that are in that tag. I can then search for the file I need.

    Can I do this?

    Thank you for any help.

  12. I have recently found about [this little project](https://github.com/kentcdodds/genie) that I think is really awesome.

I could see it taking off and becoming used more, imagine having an alfred like interface for any website that you visit, I think it would be pretty awesome.

What do you guys think of it? I will sure try and play around and try and implement it on a website of mine similar to [this](https://kentcdodds.com).
