Tsunami
v4.0.4 [1111] - macOS 10.14.6 In 4.0.3, typing =0xFF would return 255. In 4.0.4, x is recognized as multiplication, so the result is always 0.
deanishe
This was a deliberate change, FWIW. The changelog for 4.0.4 says: "Recognise x as multiplication" Seems worth reversing.
Andrew
Ah boo... I had completely forgotten about hex notation in the calculator. I've already added a defaults write to reinstate the hex behaviour into the next build (I'd still like to default to x as multiplication for the masses), I'll get a dev build out later this week to sort this for you! Edit: On second thoughts, I'll likely fix the default behaviour to how it's been for the past decade.
Andrew
@Tsunami If you update to the 4.0.5 pre-releae, I've now reverted this behaviour
danzimm
Thanks for jumping on this so quickly. I use this feature daily (Im a compiler developer so lots of hex I guess)- it might just be my most used feature outside of opening apps.
