[SOLVED] Lock not working

Recommended Posts

Lock is not working although Sleep, Shutdown etc. do work.

There is an error message in the Console.app:

Quote

Sender is prohibited from synthesizing events

This seems to suggest permission problems. Alfred has been enabled in Accessibility, but NOT in Automation. That's another thing that's weird, as Alfred doesn't appear in Automation, like described in this post: https://www.alfredforum.com/topic/12182-solved-alfred-not-in-automation-settings/.

@Mike Liang could you try quitting Alfred, then re-downloading directly from https://www.alfredapp.com/ and overwrite the current one in /Applications/ and re-launch. This could be a permissions issue which may get resolved by macOS seeing the app as a new app.

If not, there could be a lower level permissions issue on macOS which is preventing the automatic connection between an app and the automation tab. Take a look at this blog post:

https://bitsplitting.org/2018/07/11/reauthorizing-automation-in-mojave/

I believe AppleEvents is the command you need in terminal to specifically target automation:

tccutil reset AppleEvents

Or you could reset all permissions using:

tccutil reset All

Cheers,

Andrew

Finally! I did reset all and it worked. Thanks.

It turns out it is Accessibility that's needed for Lock. That's quite strange because Alfred was enabled in Accessibility.

Whatever, it worked...Refraining from ranting about macOS permission nightmare.
