Ted Curran Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 (edited) I do a lot of screencasting and screen sharing on Zoom, and I also use Alfred's Snippets feature, which displays the expanded text on screen when it's invoked. I'm afraid I will someday soon expose some sensitive data on my screen when I use snippets while sharing. I'd really like the ability to mark certain snippets as "hidden" so they do not display like the example below. I think this would greatly enhance the security of the data we store in Snippets. Thanks for considering. Edited November 19, 2020 by Ted Curran updated image
Andrew Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 @Ted Curran It's not possible to hide this text in the snippet viewer, but you could always use Alfred's snippet auto expansion where you don't even show the snippet viewer: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/snippets/auto-expansion/ Cheers, Andrew Ted Curran 1
Vero Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 @Ted Curran Further to what Andrew suggested, you can also separate your more private snippets into a collection that you disable before your screen shares, so that you don't accidentally broadcast your details. You can disable a collection by right-clicking on it and unchecking the "Enabled" option. Cheers, Vero Ted Curran 1
marslo Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 I'm using Snippet Placeholder to handle the secret key words: i.e. (my password):
Vero Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 @marslo Snippets and workflows shouldn't be used for password storage, as they're stored in plain text and may be synced. Use the macOS keychain or a third-party service like 1Password, which are intended for securely storing passwords. Cheers, Vero
