How to create custom templates?

Is it possible to create our own templates that will appear in this menu?

I don't believe you can do that. However, take a look at this Alfred help page: Getting Started: Setting Up Alternative Actions and the section headed Add the File Filter workflow Prefab. Do you think Prefabs (which are a sort of template) might provide the answer for you? (Sorry if you already know about them and have dismissed that idea!)

Ideally looking for a template as I don't think prefabs save User Configurations, so you can't "Configure Workflow".

@Briscoe It's not possible to add your own templates to that menu.

 

As suggested by @Stephen_C, you can create prefabs, which are sets of objects and can be as large as a complete workflow, if that's what would be most useful to you afterwards. Here's more information on creating prefabs:

Your list of prefabs will then be visible in the palette on the right of the workflow canvas, with a title and description:

 

 

You can add them to your workflow with the same shortcuts as any other workflow objects: Once you're in the right workflow canvas, type / and the name of your prefab, select it in the sidebar and press Return for it to be added.

 

In the menu from your screenshot, you can set your Workflow Defaults; The prefix to your bundle ID, your name, URL and a template Readme.

 

Alternatively, you can duplicate an existing workflow by right-clicking it in the sidebar and choosing "Duplicate..." so if you prefer to use a workflow in its entirety, you can do this. You could even create a category called "templates" (in the circle with three dots at the top of the left sidebar) to organise all of your templated workflows.

Is it possible for Prefabs to save User Configuration data? Currently when I drag in a Prefab (that was taken from a workflow with configuration data) I see the "No Workflow Configuration" error.

@Briscoe In that case, instead of using pre-fabs, create a full workflow and a category for all your Templates. The workflow can either be enabled to be used, or disabled, so it's just there as a reference to be copied later.

 

You can then duplicate it by right-clicking it when you need to make a new fully-configured workflow based on it.
