musicman3320 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Has anyone else noticed Alfred V3 having a bit more lag when searching? This is the first I have ever experienced this, with any version of Alfred, and it started when I upgraded to V3 yesterday. The update today (build 648) still behaves this way. Is there a reindex I can/should do after upgrading? Perhaps other tweaks I can/should do to help pep things up? I apologize in advance if this has already been addressed in a previous post. -Chris
Vero Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Has anyone else noticed Alfred V3 having a bit more lag when searching? There's no reason Alfred 3 would be slower; it's in fact a leaner, more efficient app than Alfred 2 If you're confident that your Mac wasn't under unusually heavy CPU load when you observed this, and you find that results from file searches aren't appearing as fast as you'd like, it may be worth rebuilding your Mac's index; It'll benefit Alfred as well as any other apps that rely on OS X's metadata index. Let me know how you get on. Cheers, Vero
musicman3320 Posted May 22, 2016 Author Posted May 22, 2016 Hi Vero, Thank you for the quick response! I rebuilt the index but performance appears unaffected. I believe I have narrowed down when the sluggishness happens: If Alfred is used when on the Integrated Graphics Card (Intel HD Graphics 4000), there is a slight delay as letters are typed. If Alfred is used when on the Discrete Graphics Card (NVidia GeForce GT 650M), responsiveness returns to normal. Not sure if there is anything that can be done about this, but at the very least, it has now been documented. Thank you for your help so far, and for making such a fantastic product. If this turns out to be the only issue I encounter in years of using Alfred, it is still a far better and more well-designed program than most. -Chris
Andrew Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 If Alfred is used when on the Integrated Graphics Card (Intel HD Graphics 4000), there is a slight delay as letters are typed. If you select the Alfred Classic theme, does the lag go away? If so, it might be worth duplicating / creating a theme and setting the window blur to 0. Cheers, Andrew
musicman3320 Posted May 22, 2016 Author Posted May 22, 2016 Hi Andrew, That worked like a charm! The Alfred Classic theme did not have the lag. I have now duplicated the "Alfred" theme and reduced the window blur to 0, and all lag seems to have gone away. Thank you for the quick response and the surprisingly easy fix! -Chris
