  1. On the basis there are six other people in the world who do similar things with printed recipes that I do here is version 3.1 of the workflow.

    Not content with replacing teaspoons and tablespoons the latest version:

    • deletes bullets from the original text;
    • then trims white space from the beginning and end of each line of the original text;
    • displays the result in the new Alfred 5.5 Text View where you can edit it or continue simply to copy it to the clipboard ready to paste into whatever recipe editor you are using.

    DO NOTE: This version requires Alfred 5.5 or later.

  2. I'm the author of that workflow. The workflow uses Alfred's Universal Action so you need simply to select some text, use your Universal Action hotkey (go to Alfred Preferences → Features → Universal Actions) and then look among the results for "Word and character count” (just start typing and it should appear quickly).

    Let me know if you still have problems.

  3. You can't upload workflows to the forum. The best thing to do is to host them on GitHub (initial steep leaning curve, in my experience, but easy once you get the hang of things and certainly the best way to host a workflow). I guess you could share something like a Dropbox link as a temporary measure but in the longer term that won't really work because it won't cater properly for updates to the workflow.

  4. While I don't for the moment doubt you I can't reproduce it (and have had no crashes with the beta). But I'm on macOS 14.3.1. I'm sure the crash reports would be useful so do send them.

    Then suspect one of your workflows or something else you've been doing in Alfred. The point I was making about the time and date was meant to make you consider exactly what you'd been doing at the time the clipboard entries were added to the clipboard.

  6. My default email client is Thunderbird. If in Alfred I open a contact and choose Email Thunderbird opens as expected with the contact details completed in a new email.

    However, if I use either of the Universal Actions (Email to… or Email) Apple Mail opens and sits there empty and disabled.

    Is there any reason why the Universal Actions don't default to the default email client?

    Edit: Possibly scriptability, of course!

  7. I'm sorry my initial reply was misleading. You should be doing what Vero indicated in her response:

    As well as confirming which versions of Alfred and macOS you're using, it would be helpful to know whether you're syncing your preferences, and if so, what service you're using.

    We're going to need to help you find a backup copy of your preferences in order for you to be able to restore your old Snippets collections so do please provide all that information.

    Edit: You replied as I was typing this—but please reply to the part about your Alfred preferences: that's important.

    Is there a way to trigger those spelling features with the typical keyboard shortcuts?

    Or, indeed, a way to set defaults specifically for Alfred? (I don't like Apple checking my grammar but I would like it to check my spelling as I type. 😀)

  9. Version 2.0 requires Alfred 5.5 or later. It includes the ability to create multi-line and multi-paragraph quick notes plus the ability to preview and edit the QuickNotes file using Alfred's new Text View. Full instructions are contained in the workflow ReadMe.

  10. Version 4.5 requires Alfred 5.5 so if you are not using that please stay on your earlier version.

    The new version allows preview of plain text and markdown links files using Alfred's new Text View. Editing of plain text links files also uses Alfred's text view. Full instructions for use of the workflow are contained in the ReadMe.

  11. Important note
    Version 3.0 (and later) of this workflow requires Alfred 5.5 (and above). Please stay on your earlier version if you are not using Alfred 5.5 (or later). The workflow is now called simply "Find and replace text”.

    Version 3.0 is a significant update using Alfred's new Text View to allow you to preview, and if necessary edit, the result of the find and replace. The ReadMe has been substantially re-written and contains full instructions on use of the workflow.

    There are no dependencies.

    If all goes well the workflow should be updated on the Alfred Gallery in due course.

  12. Note
    This workflow requires Alfred 5.5 (or later). It makes use of both the new Grid View and the new PDF View in Alfred 5.5.  As the workflow is based on Alfred 5.5 beta there may be changes to the workflow during the beta phase of Alfred 5.5 following changes made in the beta.

    Introduction
    The workflow searches for PDF files in a folder within Alfred's default search scope. You select the folder and the workflow displays thumbnails of the PDF files from that folder in a grid. In essence the use is exactly the same as that for the Search for JPEGs workflow—with one significant difference. When viewing the thumbnail of a single PDF in Alfred's new PDF View (i.e., after selecting it in Grid View) you can press fn↓ and fn↑ to move through the pages of the PDF. Of course, when highlighting a PDF file in Grid View or viewing it in PDF View you can open it with your default PDF viewer using ⌘O (“O” for “open”)—and also by using in PDF View. There are full instructions in the workflow ReadMe.

    This workflow has no dependencies.
