bcometa reacted to zhaowu in Alfred2 workflow for google search suggestion, instant search, and current site search
The initial motive is to automatically use current front browser's site for site search. Current it includes google suggestion, instant search, site search and related search.

    Suggestions are welcome.

Check it out in Github: http://zhaocai.github.com/alfred2-google-workflow/

It is also an example to use bundler to include gems in an alfred workflow. The command is bundle install --standalone.

    Usage 1. Search Suggestion
Keyword g: provide google search suggestions based on {query}.
    2. Instant Search
Keyword gi: get instant google search results in Alfred based on {query}.
    3. Site Search
Keyword gs: get instant google search results of front browser's site in Alfred based on {query}.
Supported browsers are: Safari, Google Chrome, Opera, OmniWeb, etc.
You can use site:example.com query if you do not want to search for current front browser's site.
    4. Related Search
Keyword related: get related google search results of front browser's site in Alfred based on {query}.
Supported browsers are: Safari, Google Chrome, Opera, OmniWeb, etc.
You can use related:example.com query if you do not want to search for current front browser's site.
    Installation
    Two ways are provided:
You can download the Google.alfredworkflow and import to Alfred 2. This method is suitable for regular users.
You can git clone or fork this repository and use rake install and rake uninstall to install. This method create a symlink to the alfred workflow directory: "~/Library/Application Support/Alfred 2/Alfred.alfredpreferences/workflows". This method is suitable for developers.

    Hello,

I have used this workflow developed by Robert Hovath but I often want to look up and actor, so I decided to make my own workflow for searching for actors, movies and TV series on IMDb and I'ld like to share it with you

The workflow uses one single command.
m [query] Looks up a movie, TV series or actor matching the query. If a movie or TV series is selected, detailed information will be loaded from OMDb and shown. The detailed information includes the option for watching plot summary and a poster in quick look, view a list of actors in Alfred and view a trailer on YouTube.
If an actor is selected, the corresponding IMDb website will be opened.

I like to keep the commands I often use very short and therefore I chose just 'm'. If you don't like it, I'm sure you know how to change it.

You can download the latest version here or grab the source code at GitHub. I'm sorry that the workflow is not yet available on AlfPT but I'm unable to upload my workflows

Quite a simple workflow to search articles on wikipedia (English version). Inspired by a similar workflow here, but it appears the download link is broken...

Based on feedback from folks, I have an updated version of this workflow. It allows you to
Search against regional Wikipedia sites. E.g. to search against German wikipedia, type "w de what to search for" i.e. "w <language code> <search term>" Language codes are from Wikipedia. You can also configure it to search against just one default Wikipedia by modifying the script filter as mentioned in the workflow. Against each result, a snippet of the text from the wiki page is displayed Remember, you can press the Shift key against a search result to quickly view the associated web page from within Alfred.

Try the new version and let me know your comments.

Q: How can I set one language as the default?

Open the workflow's Script Filter in Alfred, and follow the steps mentioned in there.

    Updated 3/18:
NOTE: Set your location again so a default weather unit gets set initially, then change it.
Removed saving to the Workflow Data folder and actually save IN the workflow folder now. Should fix issue a few users are seeing and also allows syncing weather location.

Also, I made a simple webs search shortcut for this forum, so I can constantly check out new workflows. A workflow to find new workflows would be pretty awesome.

bcometa reacted to rdg in Toggle Caffeine
I was bringing over my old Caffeine control applescript to add to my workflow, and decided to polish it up a bit and add notifications. It will toggle Caffeine on and off, either with the bare keyword, explicitly turn it on or off with those words as arguments, or with a number for the hours that the use want's it to run. You can use decimal numbers like .5 for half an hour, or 3.25 for three and a quarter hours to fine-tune how long it will be on.

A notification will show how long it was turned on for, or if it is being turned on or off. Hope you like it.

Edit: I updated the notification to show the time when caffeine will turn itself off, if the user adds a number of hours, which might actually be useful.

Regarding the clutter in the menu bar, have you seen Bartender? Allows you display only what you want seen on the menu bar, hide some stuff in a toggled bar, and completely hide other stuff (ie. Caffeine). Best of all, it allows for stuff to be displayed temporarily when the icon changes (ie. when Caffeine activates or deactivates).

My menu bar with Bartender bar closed:

I have finally converted my Send URL extension into a workflow.

The workflow selects the URL from the frontmost App or a URL from the Clipboard. Supported Apps are:
Safari Webkit Google Chrome (Beta/Dev/Canary) Camino Opera (and Opera Next) Omniweb
You can then send the URL to a variety of Apps

Safari Webkit Google Chrome (Beta/Dev/Canary) Camino Opera (and Opera Next) Omniweb Firefox (and Aurora) iCab Sleipnir Paparazzi! Mail Sparrow Postbox Gmail VLC Adium (as a chat to an online contact) Droplr downforeveryoneorjustme.com and the clipboard
The workflow only list the Apps installed on you mac.
You can download Send URL here:
    https://github.com/aiyodk/Alfred-Extensions/raw/master/AlfredApp_2.x/Send-URL/Send-URL.alfredworkflow

    EDIT:

    I have updated Send URL.
The update fixes a bug where the workflow would not work if the URL contains a '&' and downforeveryoneorjustme.com is not working correctly.
I have also included options to copy the URL as a HTML or Markdown link (including the page title)

    Hi guys,

i often check my iMessages to see if someone is online.
With this workflow you can search for people based on their name / handle (email / telephone / etc) and full name

If it's a gtalk users it displays the online status

When you enter it focusses the iMessages app, selects the user and you're ready to type a message.

I've completely rebuilt redwall_hp's original IMDB Search Suggest workflow to include more information in results, a fallback for longer search queries using a cache, and a new icon. I've also changed the keyword to i but you can easily change that to imdb or whatever you like. I hope you'll enjoy!
