  1. If by web bookmarks you mean web searches, those are stored in Alfred’s preferences. But if you never set up preferences syncing in Alfred (to Dropbox for example), they can only be retrieved from a Time Machine backup.

if you don’t have Time Machine set up, stop what you’re doing and do it immediately. It will save you from these headaches.

Strange that the two items of software have coexisted for years and only caused a problem on transfer to a new machine.

If you moved to an MBP with a smaller screen, naturally there is less space for the icons. The notch also takes up space in the menubar.

  3. @rehashed Have you tried typing only the first few characters of the application name and choosing the application you want? After a few times Alfred will put the application as the first result, and you will commit to muscle memory which characters to type. For example, for Slack you would type "sl" and press Enter.

What implication might this have on Alfred's dropdown list of Languages after macOS 12.3?

Given that /usr/bin/php was removed in macOS 12.0 and it's still in the dropdown, probably none until Alfred drops support for macOS versions that still ship those binaries.

  5. As mentioned in Andrew's second screenshot, Alfred always copies the selected text to the clipboard. I think even when you use the "Restore previous clipboard item" option, the selected text will still be in your clipboard history.

The "Mark item as transient" option only makes it so the modified text doesn't show up in the clipboard history as well.

  6. All my Clipboard History items are set to be removed after 24 hours. Yesterday I noticed I had plain text items from the past 2 months in my history. The old items disappeared after I restarted Alfred.

Is this a bug, or has Alfred always worked this way? I would expect the old items to be deleted periodically.
