  1. To use this workflow, type one of the three keywords, followed by a string, to find words containing it. wws for words starting with the string, wwa for words that have it anywhere, and wwe for words ending in it.

This was originally conceived to find if certain letter combinations would be “safe” to use with software like TextExapander, but it could be used as help on word games, or something like that.

The wordlist is in english, and it’s a public domain one. You can easily replace it by changing the words.txt file in the workflow’s directory (it’s just a textfile with one word per line).

I don’t care, do whatever you want with this. If you make any changes that could benefit the script, I’d certainly appreciate if you’d share them (perhaps I could incorporate them), but it’s not at all required.

Wil you incorporate open in safari for the future?

  2. Have you tried the updated instructions? You should only need to start at step 6, and it’s pretty straightforward, now, just one small addition and one small substitution. That said, f you still find it confusing, please let me know (so I can make the instructions better), and get the version you want (link available for seven days).

It’s actually a good thing that you’re redoing it, since WatchList was updated to work a different way, recently, and this way you’ll get the new compatible version.

I just did ole boy. Dang, it's nice not to have it open terminal. Thanks a lot!

  3. Sorry if this is a silly question, but I didn't see it addressed anywhere....

How do I upload a created workflow?  Do I have to have some blog or my own website and link to it, or is there a way to actually upload it to THIS site?  If not, is there a free and easy way to share it besides making a blog that I don't need?

I think this should be covered in the FAQ.

This will be remedied in the future by uploading your workflow or theme to extras.alfredapp.com

For now, you need to use something like Dropbox or Cloud app, which uploads a file and then allows you to link it where you wish. :)

  4. I've been very happy to use keyboard based navigation tools and Alfred seperately. Tools like Vimium and Shortcat are great, but they are seperate tools that can add a new language to learn. Is there any chance that Alfred might work to implement a mode or feature set for general navigation ?

Hopefully someday, i would like this as well.

Just took a look at Shortcat, it's cool but your app/window needs to be open in order to set what you want or toggle something.

  5. I agree with you. This workflow is the best Alfred unit converter I've come across yet :D It interprets input sensibly and runs quickly :-)

Is there a reason why the workflow requires the user to hit enter to get results? Why not preview the result of all possible matching calculations? I often just want to look up a conversion quickly and hitting enter is an additional key press. Besides, sometimes I might be interested in the other outputs too.

One typo: Line 727 of units_v2.php should use the currency code "nzd" not "znd".

EDIT: Seems like the workflow actually does preview the results once you add a space to the end of your query, and that hitting return simply does this for you. Why is the terminating space character required?

     i don't know. Ask him.

  6. So what is the best way to remove old Aflred 1.2?

Should I just drag the app icon to the trash?

If I use AppZapper will it break my new Alfred 2.02?

Dragging to the trash should do it. There will still be traces of v1 left in your directories but it shouldn't be an issue.

  7. I just downloaded and unzipped Alfred 2.02.

I dragged the unzipped Alfred 2.app to my Applications folder.

    I started Alfred 2.app.

Now there are two bowlers in my mac menu bar!

In Alfred 2 Preferences screen, I clicked the button for v1 Import: Import settings.

There are still two bowlers in my mac menu bar!

    I scanned and scanned AlfredApp.com and Alfredfroum.com.

I found a lot of articles about importing v1 settings.

BUT NOT ONE MENTION OF WHAT I SHOULD DO WITH OLD ALFRED 1.2.

Maybe it is obvious to you.

I am guessing I should just drag old Alferd to the trash.

    Will that "just work?"

Will the extra bowler just go away?

Do I need to restart my Mac after trashing old Alfred?

Am I missing some obvious upgrade instructions?

You could just quit Alfred 1 or hide the icon. You'll find it in the settings in Preferences > Opitons > "Hide Menu Bar icon". I had no idea what you meant at first lol, Bowler!

  8. I've been a longtime Launchbar user, but have decided to switch to Alfred for the workflows.

In Launchbar I was able to select text in any application and then press and hold my Launchbar shortcut (command-space) and that would send the text to Launchbar. From there I could simply type "wi" and then press enter to search wikipedia using that query.

Does Alfred have a similar feature?

    Thanks

Is it kinda like grabbing the text and then pasting it? Basically a clipboard manager?

  9. Thanks for the feedback.  I suggest you try installing it and tell me if it is still hard to read.  Also, you are free to modify and make the font darker to suit your needs.

My intention was to make the selection very readable and the other list items fall away a little to draw attention to the selection

    Yup, still hard.

  10. A really colorful, happy, but not too bright theme that is also super readable.

It's very hard to read, i would make the font darker.

  11. check this out: http://superuser.com/questions/172970/hotkey-to-mute-mic-on-mac-os-x

Make a new alfred workflow: Templates/Essentials/Keyword to script

For the keyword, make it what you want and set arguments to "No Argument"

double click on the script box and select usr/bin/osascript for the language

copy and paste the code on the page mentioned by 'tkneis' into the script area, save.

Now, This will toggle whatever your input is ... so, in system prefs, make sure your boom mic is set as input ... and the script will toggle it between mute and 100% each time you run it.

    Thanks, used the second script.

  12. same issue here. All informations are correct except the system info on the top. It shows an old mac I don't own anymore since about a year. But I migrated the system via Time Machine.

Where do I find the workflow folder? There isn't one in the workflow data folder inside the Alfred 2 folder in Applications Support. At least not for your workflow. Strange...

There is another one in Alfred.preferences then workflows.

  13. With some graphics card / mac combos, this is actually a latent window shadow issue where your Mac isn't clearing out the window shadowing under the text. If you use the window blurring hack, not only will this theme look better, but also this issue should go away:

    http://www.alfredforum.com/topic/289-cheeky-little-transparency-blur-hack-in-b78-now-available/

I still get ghosting unless i have the blur set to like 5, even then i can faintly see it.

  14.

It’s fine, it just got truncated for some reason. Simply rename it from “DownVid.alfredworkf” to “DownVid.alfredworflow”, and it’ll work.

it worked, I feel like crying with joy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    male19-male-crying-tears-smiley-emoticon

I also got it to work just extracting the audio only, today is a great day. One question though, how come the workflow makes an alert sound in terminal?
