@iandol @outcoldman @llityslife Please try this version. Instructions are at the bottom of the About, in the Advanced Configuration section. The update is to be considered experimental and things can change, but this method aims to allow you to use the local models you have set up more easily and not worry about the endpoint being overridden on updates, while at the same time not overwhelming other users.

Deprecating in favour of Thumbnail Navigation, which has a Fast Entry option. It requires Alfred 5.5, currently in beta. That said, if you enjoy this workflow as is, you can keep your copy as it will continue to work.

Not the first time you’ve made an analogy from music. I like that, digging the sound. I was familiar with some of his other songs but not that one.

See why I enjoy so much when you two discuss workflows? Nice idea!

Huh, interesting idea too! I can see that being useful in other cases. Just released 2024.1 which adds an External Trigger.

vitor got a reaction from bounce in Open four Finder instances in a grid with specified folders?
If you’re looking to manipulate the position of Finder windows, you could do that previously. Use the Open File Action to open a specific folder and connect it to the Set Custom Window Bounds Automation Task. Chain a few in a row and watch your windows open and be layed out. Like so:

You’ll need to do the math on the positions and sizes to construct your grid.

As with most things in computing, using local models has tradeoffs. You’ve mentioned some of the positives, but some of the challenges include having to download multi-GB files, requiring better machines, and being harder to set up. None of that is insurmountable, but it is an extra hurdle that can confuse most users. There are so many different knobs and dials, even when using one specific service, that an early explicit goal of this workflow remains to avoid configuration fatigue. We’re aware alternative models exist and are certainly not averse to them, but for this workflow right this moment the operative word is focus.

The great news is that everything in the workflow is built on top of the new Text View, which is content agnostic. In other words, as you’ve noticed, there’s nothing tying Alfred to a particular approach and anyone can build their own!

You may be doing it too fast. You need to give the webpage time to load or you’re pasting into nothing. Try with a Delay Utility.

If that doesn’t work, please share the workflow you have.

I hope it's not out of order to mention my specific workflow to search for PNGs—which allows you initially to select the folder in which you wish to search (but does not then, in fairness, include sub-folders).

Technically the developer should have provided a packaged workflow. It is atypical that that does not happen. You could also have zipped that folder, renamed the extension to alfredworkflow, and opened that.

Wow everyone, this release is hugely impressive. This must have been a tremendous amount of work. Apologies @vitor for jumping the gun on the View Notes workflow thread. So grateful to have all this hard work at my fingertips day in and day out. It is hard to believe you aren't a team of 10 people.

I do have a very important question though. How legendary does our support need to be to get an Alfred Bowler in the mail so we can look like John Bonham in the 70s?

vitor got a reaction from jims in Window Switcher — Switch to a specific window of an app in the current Desktop Space
AppleScript is noticeably slower and it cannot guarantee window order. This workflow specifically moved away from it. It will also not show Safari (or any other browser) tabs, that is out of scope as it would drown relevant results (and again, be slow). There are other workflows which can do that, and there are Automation Tasks which return information on browser tabs which can both be used to get tabs and switch to them.

This workflow should be considered feature complete. It does what it sets out to do, and does it as fast as possible within the available constraints. I carefully weighted all pros and cons of every possibility and this is what it has landed on.

The workflow is still maintained: it will get bug fixes if any are found and updated to newer macOS versions if necessary. It may also get tweaks in behaviour if they are reasonably small and don’t affect the workflow as a whole. But what it does will not change unless new relevant possibilities are added to macOS.

It’s a regular JSON array. Instead of "arg": "one coffee" you do "arg": ["first coffee", "second coffee"]. That will be passed to the next object as multiple arguments.

    Usage

Paste clipboard entries sequentially via the Hotkey or Snippet Trigger. Each call pastes the preceding clipboard entry.

Copying from the most recent item restarts if the last paste is older than the timeout minutes defined in the Workflow’s Configuration. A force reset can be triggered with the paste keyword by pressing ⌘⌥⌃↩.
