  1. @godbout @fonginator Sounds like there's a hotkey conflict. Please check your Spotlight hotkey, which was likely reset to cmd + space by macOS on upgrade to Monterey. This would result in the exact behaviour you're seeing. Also, as you're likely both using multiple languages, check that it's not being used by the language switching or the Siri "hold Cmd Space to speak" feature. https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/cmd-space/ Cheers, Vero
  2. @Floating.Point Thank you for pointing this out, and no need to feel like a doofus! I've updated the page to be a little more explicit about indexing issues (and will keep an eye out for anywhere else I might make it more obvious too as I update more pages in the next few weeks) This should make it a little clearer Cheers, Vero
  3. The troubleshooting report you've provided indicates that your Mac's metadata is completely missing, so Spotlight might be working off a temporary cache for now, but will eventually also exhibit the same issue of files not being found. The first steps to follow when results seem unexpected is to rebuild your Mac's metadata. It's usually because the data being provided by macOS is incorrect (even if it appears correct in the current Spotlight cache), and rebuilding ensures that all this information is refreshed by the OS. Even if you believe you've already reindexed, please follow the steps below specifically (as it involves deleting a cache first and ensuring Terminal has suitable permissions). First, please pop open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access and add Terminal Once you've done this, go to Alfred's Advanced preferences, choose "Rebuild macOS Metadata" Ensure that you check "Delete .Spotlight-V100 before reindex" Follow the steps in Terminal, and keep a close eye for any error messages relating to your index. Please let me know if there are any errors. Otherwise, if it proceeds smoothly, you may need to wait up to an hour for the reindex to complete. Once this is done, make your searches again and see if your results are more as expected. If your issue persists, please provide the following information: Your diagnostics file, by typing ?diagnostics into Alfred (which you can email to our info@ address) Examples of the File Troubleshooting reports for the files you cannot find using Alfred and whether they still show the broken metadata Cheers, Vero
  4. @Druboi Take a look at Alfred's built-in examples by clicking the [+] at the bottom of the sidebar > Examples > Dynamic File Search. The built-in workflow lets you choose a folder then search for files within it; You can tweak the second object to include kMDItemTextContent if you want to search the content of those files (equivalent to the "in" keyword) or leave it as-is if you just want to search file names. From there, you can get fancier if you have more specific parameters in mind, but that should get you started Cheers, Vero
  5. Just to be clear, this information was available in my very first reply 14 days ago, in step 5 of the indexing troubleshooting guide I had indicated should be read carefully. I'm thrilled this is solved but for you, and for all future users who come across this thread, please read the steps we provide carefully; They're there for a reason. Cheers, Vero
  6. @ryzor @jpage4500 It looks like Apple has re-adjusted the hyphen behaviour in Monterey, and for some other scenarios they did this earlier in Big Sur. We've been investigating for the benefit of this thread and another related thread, and it's all working as expected on both Big Sur and Monterey: These changes on Apple's part should help anyone experiencing the issue described earlier in this thread As it looks like it's all resolved in current macOS versions, I'll close this thread, but let us know if your observations differ. Cheers, Vero
  7. @Xage Can I confirm that you've done a full rebuild as per the instructions in my earlier post, including granting Terminal Full Disk Access and deleting the Spotlight-V100? https://www.alfredforum.com/topic/17462-file-search-in-macos-monterey/?do=findComment&comment=90299 Next, please follow Andrew's instructions to add paths to your search scope: https://www.alfredforum.com/topic/17462-file-search-in-macos-monterey/?do=findComment&comment=90398 If the issue persists, could you please be more specific as to what apps aren't found, what location they're in, etc, as the instructions above seem to have resolved everyone else's issues, so it's possible you've just missed a step. Cheers, Vero
  8. @Adam Duff If you downloaded Alfred 1.2 from the Mac App Store, please delete it and download Alfred 4 from https://www.alfredapp.com to make the most of all the up to date features Cheers, Vero
  9. @pubay If you've tried quitting all potentially interfering apps and it still happens, try creating a new vanilla user account on your Mac with just Alfred running (you can activate your Powerpack on it) and try it there to confirm there's no misbehaviour. You can then revert to your primary account and work by elimination; Take a look at Activity Monitor if you need to jog your memory as to what background apps you may have installed that are running and could be interfering.
  10. Summarising the recent email exchanges with @Drabideaux He added the following two paths to his index, and rebuilt the metadata index including deleting checking the box to "Delete .Spotlight-V100" during the process. /Applications /System/Applications A few days later, on following up, I suggested resetting the search scope to defaults (using the Reset Search Scope button in Features > Default Results), and drabideaux is still finding all files. I have a suspicion that if just an index rebuild had been done, macOS would've eventually sorted itself out. At this point, I think everyone who has mentioned they're having indexing issues after migrating settings to their new Monterey Mac is all sorted. I'll leave this thread open, should anyone else be encountering this issue, but the conclusion is rebuild your Mac's index from Alfred's Advanced preferences, check the box to delete Spotlight-V100, and the issue should be resolved shortly thereafter. Keep in mind this is a brand new version of macOS, with quirks of its own. Cheers, Vero
  11. @tcm Welcome to the forum. You're seeing the same issue as discussed in the thread linked below, where users who migrated from another Mac and up to Monterey are seeing temporary indexing issues. It seems that after a proper metadata rebuild (please follow instructions in the linked post closely), the issue's resolved. I'm closing this thread as it's a duplicate and it's best to keep discussion of the same issue in one place. Cheers, Vero
  12. @pubay Are you using any third-party apps that respond to keypresses, such as a keyboard remapper or hotkey modifier app of some sort? It sounds like another app is interfering and dispatching other key presses. Please quit anything from the menu bar or background apps, and try again. Could you also let us know what hotkey combination you're trying to set? As usual, please confirm which version of Alfred and macOS you're using Cheers, Vero
  13. @Steve Ball Could you please email your Diagnostics file to our info@ address? You can get the diagnostics by typing "?diagnostics" into Alfred. Also, could you please take a look at what browser plugins or third-party apps you have that could be stealing focus? As @deanishe suggests, Alfred only tells macOS to open the web search, so it's likely something is interfering and stealing focus. Have you tried changing some hotkeys and disabling browser plugins, quitting background/menu bar apps that could cause the interference? Cheers, Vero
  14. This "corp" you speak of consists of two people, Andrew and myself. As I said in my earlier response, we very carefully consider every feature that is added to ensure that there is a true need for it, and that it'll be reliable and predictable into the future. As others have highlighted, there are very capable workflows for this purpose. Cheers, Vero
  15. @Doberman Did you read my suggestions above your post? I've provided all the steps you can take to establish which app or browser plugin is the likely source of your issue. As we don't have access to your Mac and don't know your exact setup, you'll have to take the steps above in order to work out which app or plugin is locking secure input. Cheers, Vero
  16. @Drabideaux Could you please go to Alfred's Default Results preferences, uncheck the "macOS Applications folder" box at the top of the search scope, then drag in the individual Applications folders, which are: /Applications /System/Applications and let me know how you get on? Cheers, Vero
  17. Could you please provide specifics? Which apps, where are they located, are they new or were they installed before your upgrade? What do they show when you drag them into the File Troubleshooting tool? The more information you can provide, the more likely we'll be able to help you find a solution (which may also help other community members!) Cheers, Vero
  18. Most recent reports seem to be that either the issue resolves itself after a little while from upgrading to Monterey, or that rebuilding the index properly resolves the file search issue. Could anyone who reported an issue earlier on and hasn't yet responded please let us know what behaviour they're seeing now and whether it's all sorted for you as well? It would be very helpful for us (and the rest of the community) to hear from you! Cheers, Vero
  19. @GatorMapi Which version of macOS are you using, what's your tag/comment and what are you typing into Alfred? There's a difference between comments and tags; Tags are at the top of the Get Info pane for a file, and can be searched using the "tags" keyword in Alfred Comments are set further down in the Get Info pane, and are included when using the "find" keyword In both cases, they rely on the macOS Metadata, and worked as expected for me as I re-rested them on both Big Sur and Monterey. If you can provide more details, I'll be happy to help you further Cheers, Vero
  20. @CWM And have you checked "ignore thousand separators"? Cheers, Vero
  21. @maxromanovsky Yes, provided you're the sole user of that Mac and it's within the alloted number of Macs for your license, you can activate on your work device Cheers, Vero
  22. If you want to use the comma as thousand separator, then you need to change the settings in the Calculator preferences to "Use decimal point as decimal separator" instead (and potentially ignore the thousands grouping depending on what kind of numbers you paste in and whether they vary in format from different sources) Alternatively, if your usage of commas and decimals matches your macOS locale (e.g. "standard" for your country/language), just set it to macOS locale specified decimal separator. It never hurts to experiment with settings a little; no harm will come of trying different settings til you find the one you like Cheers, Vero
  23. @Billbucket Welcome to the forum This is being discussed at length in this thread, so I would ask you to please take a look at the existing conversation, and follow the instructions in this post in particular, as it appears that it's resolving the issue for quite a few users: I'm closing this thread as it's best to keep all related discussion in a single thread. Cheers, Vero
  24. For anyone who hasn't done so yet, please rebuild your Mac's index properly, as this may be all that's needed, as seems to have been the case with some users. Do let us know how you get on
  25. There's a good chance that this is coincidence rather than caused by the creation and deletion of a secondary profile. I'm pleased to hear it now all works for you, and I'll happily eat my words if everyone comes back with the same observation as you did, but I suspect something else may have happened in the background. E.g. have you updated to a newer build of Monterey perhaps? Could I please ask anyone in this thread still experiencing the issue to ensure they're up to date with Monterey (Currently, I believe that's 12.0.1) as I've had a couple of users report by email that the issue has resolved itself after updating. Please include which Monterey version you're using when replying to this thread.
