  1. @iaLAR You can open Alfred's preferences to General > Request Permissions... and open the Automation System Preferences in macOS. There you'll be able to tick the box to grant Alfred permissions to control Music.
  2. @Sam Michel As a heads-up alongside Vítor's response (for you and anyone else who comes across this thread), every workflow object has a question mark icon in the configuration, which will take you to the documentation for that specific object This is the best starting point for insight on configuring that particular workflow object!
  3. @sknud That's very kind of you! Drop us an email on info@ and I'll provide details for this
  4. @PaulH There's no need to worry - I can help you get up and running with your preferences in Alfred 5. Did you activate your Alfred 5 Powerpack license during setup? If so, Alfred 5 should have set the sync location automatically to Alfred 4's location, but you may have skipped that step in the onboarding and is now using an older set of defaults. Open Alfred 5 to the Advanced preferences, and set the Preferences folder location to wherever you had set Alfred 4's preferences to, and you'll see all your settings again. If you need further help, type ?diagnostics into Alfred 5, and drop the exported information and a link to this thread to our info@ email address. This will help me help you with specific folder locations. Cheers, Vero
  5. @robbchadwick In addition to what @vitor has said, just a quick note: We advise against using app cleaners to remove old Alfred versions, as these can be over-zealous and delete essential files for the current version of Alfred. As Vítor suggested, just drag Alfred 4 to Trash when you're done.

    Alfred 5

I can indeed see that you're a Mega Supporter license holder, so you're eligible for a free upgrade. To get your free Alfred 5 Powerpack license code, you need to request it by entering your old license details on the page below and choosing £0 (free). https://www.alfredapp.com/shop/upgrade/ You'll then be issued a new license by email, which you'll be able to use to activate in Alfred 5. Let me know if you need any help!

    Alfred 5

We sent an email inviting everyone who signed up to the Early Access a few weeks ago. The early access was public, so anybody could have joined. The forum as a whole can be used for questions on Alfred 5 - is there anything in particular you need help with?
  8. @dogen Apple have removed Python 2 from macOS Monterey a few versions ago, so workflows that relied on this built-in scripting languages needed to be updated. You can read about the changes to macOS here: https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/guides-and-tutorials/python-2-workflows-on-macos-monterey-12-3/ There are various updated versions of the workflow, which you can grab here (but please read the Readme instructions first as these will guide your preferred alternative workflow): https://github.com/alfredapp/updated-third-party-python2-workflows#workflows
  9. @All4Alfred Welcome to the forum Could you please be more specific so that we can help you? Which version of Alfred and macOS are you using? "Latest" isn't clear as that could be the latest Ventura beta or the latest public Monterey build, could be that you think you're on the latest but you're not, etc... Does the issue happen with one specific app? Does it happen with all apps? If you create a new temporary user account on your Mac, do you see the same behaviour? The more information you can provide, the more likely we'll be able to help you troubleshoot this unusual issue on your Mac. Cheers, Vero
  10. @toxman Can you check that you're on the latest version (Alfred 5.0 build 2057)?
  11. Alfred 5 is featured on Product Hunt today! (Thanks @Chris Messina for the hunt!) If you'd like to help us out, show your love by commenting with your favourite Alfred features and productivity tips! Let's get the word out about Alfred 5 🙂 https://www.producthunt.com/posts/alfred-5-2
  12. @sutterseba Yes, you can use iTerm 2 - it's a popular alternative. Under the Features > Terminal preferences, you can set the application to Custom and use the script here instead: https://github.com/vitorgalvao/custom-alfred-iterm-scripts Welcome to the forum
  13. @Quadratic Circle (This is both for your benefit and anyone else coming across this thread later on, as it sounds like you're all sorted now) If you enter your Alfred 5 Powerpack license when the Migration Assistant pops up when you first install Alfred 5, your sync location should be carried through. If you Skip setup e.g. if you don't yet have your v5 license handy, you can enter your license in the Powerpack tab later on, but will then need to pick your sync folder manually in the Advanced preferences Enjoy Alfred 5!
  14. Valid point - it's in the Clipboard History documentation, but I'll add it to the Alfred Cheatsheet ASAP too.
  15. @Sane You can clear your entire clipboard history by typing "clear" in Alfred's main search box and choosing whether you want to erase the last 5 minutes, 15 minutes or all of Alfred's history. Alternatively, you can clear single items with Fn (Function key) + Delete (backspace key).
  16. @idontcare Spotlight comments should work on both files and apps (and are working for me), without having to rebuild the metadata or clear the cache. Could you please drag FSNotes into the Troubleshooting tool and paste the output so that we can see what metadata there is for the file?
  17. @Alexander911 I've had a look at the Diagnostics you've emailed, and it doesn't appear you've followed step 2 to widen your search scope, unless you reset the search scope before sending your Diagnostics? Your search scope should look like this: Again, the Monterey issue is a macOS Migration Assistant issue, rather than an Alfred one, and this is a workaround. The alternatives are to create a new user account on your Mac (where macOS doesn't have the hangups from Migration Assistant) or in some cases, simply reindexing seems to fix it for some users.
  18. @GrantL Do you have any idea why you have Preview.app in so many iCloud folder? It's not normal for the app to be replicated in numerous iCloud folders, for example your iCloud Documents folder and Freeagent folder. There's no reason for apps to be duplicated in these locations. Are you doing any unusual /manual backups of your OS to iCloud? At this point, these results are being returned to Alfred by macOS; You'll first need to establish why the Preview.app instances are in all of these locations. Once you've worked this out, you can rebuild your Mac's index by following the indexing instructions here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/#rebuild
  19. @Alexander911 Did you recently upgrade to Monterey and did you by any chance migrate your data from a previous Mac? If so, you're encountering a known issue with the macOS Monterey Migration Assistant. The issue and workaround are outlined here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/monterey/ Let me know how you get on after following step 2 and widening your search scope. If the issue persists, try using the File Troubleshooter to see whether any metadata is missing for the files you can't find. If you need further help, could you please: - Provide your Diagnostics file, which you can get by typing "?diagnostics" into Alfred (you can email this to info@ and include a link to this thread) - Include the output from a few File Troubleshooting tests for files - Let me know exactly what you're typing into Alfred when searching for these files (including any keywords or prefixes) Cheers, Vero
  20. @Nuno iCloud isn't currently recommended due to being slower at syncing (sometimes not syncing at all for a long period of time), being less reliable and doing a poor job of file conflict resolution. In our internal testing and when supporting users who chose to use iCloud, we saw preferences being lost, especially due to file conflicts where iCloud loses files or reverts to old versions when it's unable to resolve them. We're very keen to improve the sync options and already have a broad plan for this. There are quite a few aspects to doing this well, such as adding an automatic local backup option, ensuring that if syncing goes wrong, you have a recent backup you can go back to, so we'll be looking into this further once Alfred 5 is out and settled. Having said that, if you'd like to experiment with using iCloud, you can do it; Just make sure you keep your preferences backed up using Time Machine or another regular backup service of your choice.
  21. @Patrick_ Welcome to the forum I suspect that you're using a location for your sync folder that isn't available at startup, or becomes unavailable at some stage, causing Alfred's preferences to reset to defaults. If you're using Dropbox, for example, you need to ensure that the new SmartSync feature is disabled for the Alfred preferences folder; This feature allows Dropbox to arbitrarily decide when your data should be stored on your Mac vs online-only. If your issue persists, could you please email your Diagnostics file, which you can get by typing "?diagnostics" into Alfred, to our info@ address with a link to this thread? Cheers, Vero
  22. @GrantL Could you type "reload" into Alfred to refresh the app cache and let me know if the issue persists or goes away?
  23. I can't replicate it on macOS Big Sur, so could you provide more details? Which version of macOS are you using? What kind of screen arrangements do you have? The more information community members can provide so that we can replicate an issue, the more likely we'll be able to help
  24. In that case, you can create a workflow starting with a Snippet Trigger, and adding a Dispatch Key Combo before the next bit of pasted text. This is particularly useful in that you can also use a short Delay utility if needed before the next piece of text is pasted, in case the app / site you're using is a little slow. Ensures you get good results every time Start a new thread in the Workflows Help & Questions section if you need a hand.
