  1. @SK. Apps like Clean My Mac are quite aggressive in deleting essential files. First, check your Mac's Trash, in case that's where the "cleaned" files are moved to. If you find your Alfred.alfredpreferences, keep this file safely and we'll help you reset it. Do you use Time Machine? If so, you should be able to recover your files there. Please provide more details on your setup and I'll help you recover what can be recovered.
  2. @SamF Welcome to the forum Could you please let us know which version of Alfred and macOS you're using? If you're using macOS Monterey, have you transferred your files from another Mac using the Migration Assistant tool? If so, you're encountering the bug in macOS Monterey's Migration Assistant described here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/monterey Following step 2 will work around the macOS bug, allowing you to find files normally once again. If the issue persists, please look at step 1 and provide some outputs from the File Troubleshooter, so that we can see what state the metadata is in Cheers, Vero
  3. @Fadi Apologies for missing your last reply - it's been a rather busy week with so many Mac users receiving new Macs and needing help. Can you please provide some details that will help us troubleshoot what's happening on your Mac: - Which version of Alfred are you using? - Which version of macOS? - Did snippets work normally on the same Mac previously? - When you say you can't make snippets work, can you clarify whether you mean that the keyword doesn't disappear when typed? Or at any other stage? - Can you ensure you test in TextEdit, as it's a native app and excludes any quirks that could be caused by third-party apps? If you could also send by email to our info@ address: - Your Diagnostics file, which you can get by typing "?diagnostics" into Alfred. - A screenshot of your Snippets preferences I'll then have more information to help you out Cheers, Vero
  4. @johnny_cash If you look in Finder, ⌘Y is already reserved for QuickLook, so it would be better to use a different hotkey combo instead of fighting with the macOS default ones.
  5. @johnny_cash That looks like the macOS QuickLook window when nothing is selected. What hotkey combo did you set?
  6. @johnny_cash Not out of the box, as it's still a very unusual request, but it should only take you a few seconds to create a workflow for this. Here's how you can do this: - Set your primary Alfred hotkey in the General tab to something quite obscure you're unlikely to accidentally type - Create a workflow with a Hotkey trigger object with a hotkey combo of your choice (the global hotkey you want to use) and the action set to "Show Alfred" - In the "Related Apps" tab, change the dropdown to "don't have focus" and drag in the relevant apps. When these apps are in focus, Alfred will ignore the hotkey you've set Cheers, Vero
  7. @alfred_jon Could you please provide more details, so that we can help you further? Are standard snippets working as expected for you, and expanding? Could you give an example of a full snippet with dynamic placeholder you've created? If you create a simple snippet with the content set to {date} - what behaviour do you see? Please also let us know which version of Alfred and macOS you're using. Cheers, Vero
  8. @smartishhome OneDrive's latest iteration has moved files to a new location within ~/Library/ Could you take a look at the location of your sync folder set in Alfred? It's possible that Alfred is looking at the old location where there might be a OneDrive symlink. If that's the case, change your sync location to the new location of the OneDrive data and see if that solves the issue. Could you keep us updated if it does/doesn't? Might come in handy for other users who have updated OneDrive to this latest version.
  9. @Hanley Arnold Your best bet is to add the path your apps are in to Alfred's search scope instead, rather than symlinking.
  10. Have a look at whether it can be scripted instead, which would be a more reliable way to control it. I have a vague recollection that it can be, from looking into it a few years ago.
  11. @Bemawr If you take a look at the link @tone shared, it looks like there's another workflow for Pocket in the list of workflows that have already been updated for Python 2, so it's worth seeing if it does what you have in mind
  12. @johnhamill If you type "open citizen kane", do you find your files? Alfred has its own search scopes and sorting, using the macOS metadata index, so it can't be compared directly to either of those. If you could please drag one of your Citizen Kane files to the File Troubleshooter and paste the full output here, I'll be able to help you further in establishing whether 1. it's in Alfred's scope, 2. whether the metadata is available for these files. Cheers, Vero
  13. @johnhamill Could you please confirm whether you use the spacebar trick before searching for your mp4's in Alfred? Alfred's default is more focused by design, usually including apps, preferences, keywords from Alfred features and workflows when your search isn't prefixed by anything. When prefixing your search with the keyword "open" (or pressing the spacebar), you'll broaden your search to include files, documents, images and more. Here's our intro guide to the difference between the default search and broader file search: https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/tips-and-tricks/beginners-guide-to-alfred-searching-your-mac-and-the-web/ If you are using the broader search and still unable to find the files in question, there may be an indexing issue on your Mac. In that case, open Alfred's preferences to the Help tab, click "File Troubleshooting" and drag a problem file into the troubleshooter. This will indicate whether it's missing metadata, outside of Alfred's index, etc... Paste the output here so that I can help you further Cheers, Vero
  14. Take a look at this thread for more details on both reinstalling Python and requesting tweaks to workflows
  15. @Peekay Looks like the workflow creator is already investigating updating it: https://github.com/mschmidtkorth/alfred-clickup-msk/issues/35 As per my reply to you in another thread, this is caused by Apple removing Python 2 from macOS in Monterey 12.3. There are many ways around this, such as reinstalling Python 2. You can also pop a reply in the issue linked above so that the workflow creator knows you're also keen to use it Cheers, Vero
  16. @CandiceJoy Welcome to the forum You and @Peekay don't need to worry - we've already got this in hand. This latest blog post gives you all the links you need: https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/guides-and-tutorials/python-2-workflows-on-macos-monterey-12-3/ In short, while Apple removed Python 2 from the pre-installed scripting languages, it takes only a few minutes to reinstall. Once you've done this, take a look at this growing list of updated workflows. If any workflows you want to use are not yet updated for this, you can pop a post in this thread: If you have any questions about Python 2, the thread above is the best place to peruse, or post if you don't find an answer. Cheers, Vero
  17. @Fadi Welcome to the forum. This is likely caused by macOS forgetting during the upgrade that you've given Alfred permission to do text expansion. You can follow these steps to reset permissions and re-grant them: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/getting-started/permissions/#regrant Once you've let macOS know you want Alfred to use Accessibility, you should be back up and running. If the issue persists, there may be some unchecked boxes for the snippets you want to use, so double-check that everything is enabled as per the snippet setup guide: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/snippets/auto-expansion/ Let us know how you get on
  18. Pop by this thread and share your details
  19. It sounds like last time, the issue was the API of the service the workflow uses was down - that's completely outside of Alfred. This time, it's because Apple have removed Python 2 from macOS, which is a scripting language some workflows relied on. If you take a look at the instructions here, you'll be able to get back up and running in no time, as Vitor has kindly updated numerous workflows. Be sure to follow the instructions in the readme. https://github.com/alfredapp/updated-third-party-python2-workflows#readme
  20. @J_G Welcome to the forum This could be caused by a couple of different things, so please take a look at the Indexing page specifically relating to Monterey: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/monterey The first step will guide you through using the File Troubleshooting tool to establish whether all the necessary metadata exists for your files. If your issue relates to Monterey's Migration Assistant, then step 2 will sort things out for you. If it doesn't, you may need to rebuild your Mac's index as outlined here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/ Let me know how you get on! Cheers, Vero
  21. @PreemoIt's a tricky question as we don't know either what workflow you're referring to, or which ones you've already come across. That's most likely why you haven't had any replies so far. A quick look online finds quite a few Chrome bookmarks workflows 🤔 Are you always opening the same 5 static links? If so, you could create a workflow with one keyword that opens all links, like the one in this example. https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/tips-and-tricks/start-your-day-workflow/ Let me know if that meets your needs
  22. Quick link to the latest release, which has been updated to work with Python 3: https://github.com/caleb531/youversion-suggest-alfred/releases Update based on @caleb531's tweet this weekend
  23. @DaniP Welcome to the forum It looks like the workflow you're using relies on Python. As of macOS 12.3, Apple have removed Python 2 from being a default installed language. As such, workflows that rely on it stop working once you update to 12.3. Taking a quick look at the workflow GitHub, it looks like @rhyd is already working on an update to the workflow, which no longer relies on Python: https://github.com/rhydlewis/search-omnifocus/issues/50 I'm sure @rhyd will share an update when they've got something ready for community members to use. Alternatively, you can reinstall Python 2 by following these instructions: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/kb/python-2-monterey/
  24. @DoctorDan Welcome to the forum Are you using macOS Monterey by any chance? If you've transferred your data from another Mac using the Migration Assistant, you're probably encountering the macOS bug described here, where step 2 also provides a workaround to the issue: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/monterey Take a look and let me know how you get on. If you're not on Monterey, or the page above doesn't resolve your issue, please provide a little more details and some file troubleshooter outputs, and I'll help you further based on those details. Cheers, Vero
  25. @macbikegeek This is unusual behaviour, so could you give a little more details of what you see when this happens? Is the Alfred hat still visible in the menu bar (assuming it's normally visible in your menu bar) when Alfred stops responding? If you click the hat in the menu bar, can you open Alfred's Preferences? Does it happen when you do something specific, e.g. plug in an external screen, or use a particular app/feature on your Mac? It's worth noting that you can delete Alfred from your Applications folder and re-download from https://www.alfredapp.com to reinstall without losing your preferences, if you believe the actual app file might be corrupted. Just don't use third-party uninstallers/app cleaners (as those would likely remove your preferences as well). Let me know how you get on Cheers, Vero
