  1. @marcolago Could you please launch Alfred's preferences to the General tab? Click on Request Permissions... then go through the process of removing and re-adding Alfred to all currently used permission types. If you migrated from Mojave to Catalina from a backup, there's a good chance that macOS has lost track of your permissions, and isn't allowing Alfred to use automation. Try again once you've removed and re-added Alfred from Automation (and any other relevant permissions you've granted). Let me know how you get on Cheers, Vero
  2. @marcolago Welcome to the forum As I understand it, on your Catalina Mac, you can get as far as successfully copying items to the clipboard, so that if you look at the Clipboard Viewer, it's populated with your recent clips? The issue happens when you try to paste from the Clipboard Viewer window, where the item doesn't paste with Return? Could you please: Check that you don't have any third-party apps installed that would either be messing with clipboard contents or with the focused app? Do you hear an error beep when trying to paste? This would indicate that there's no focused window to paste to. Have you modified the Cmd + V basic paste hotkey combination in your Catalina install so that when Alfred dispatches a Cmd + V to paste, the command doesn't work? Try in TextEdit, which is one of the simplest native apps, and let me know whether you're able to paste there. If you are able to paste, which apps are you unable to paste to? Could these apps have their own clipboard/hotkey management which is interfering? Let me know how you get on Cheers, Vero
  3. @Chivalry This sounds highly unusual, so two things come to mind: First, restart your Mac because well, it's Catalina. Second, when this next occurs, please launch Activity Monitor, select Alfred Preferences and do a "Sample Process". This will help establish what might be going on. Cheers, Vero
  4. @vitor Maybe I missed it, but in my quick look, I couldn't find a page for the specific workflow. It doesn't seem to be the same as this one: If you can help @romebot figure out the right thread (if there is one), it'd be brilliant Cheers, Vero
  5. @Matt V @giorgiof While we're preparing a build for this, would you be able to let me know what your specific setup is? What's your setup when it happens? Are you using an external screen, then removing the external screen? If so, is the external screen your primary display while plugged in? What is your order of operations for unplugging AND replugging the display? Do you unplug while your Mac is awake? Do you unplug and replug before or after the Mac's screen has been put to sleep? In Alfred's Appearance > Options, what are your settings on the right for a. Save Position when dragging Alfred main window (checked/unchecked), and b. Show Alfred on default screen, mouse screen or active screen? Does it make a difference if you fully wake your Mac and plug the external display after it's awake and logged in? Are there situations where the issue doesn't arise and Alfred/Spotlight appear as normal after unplugging the external display? The more we can work out a reproducible case, the easier it'll be for us to work around any Catalina bug causing this. Also tagging @ionstorm to answer the questions above, as he was very helpfully testing things out in December and might have some useful input too Thanks all! Cheers, Vero
  6. @Philip Dhingra Welcome to the forum Looks like you're searching for files without using the "open" prefix, so unless you've changed the file types you want to see in your default results, you shouldn't be seeing text files in there. Take a look at our beginner's guide to searching with Alfred here: https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/tips-and-tricks/beginners-guide-to-alfred-searching-your-mac-and-the-web/ This will show you how to use the "open" and "find" keywords, as well as the spacebar trick (a shortcut to the "open" keyword). Let us know how you get on. Cheers, Vero
  7. @romebot The issue I'm describing applies specifically to the Mail workflow, in that it interacts with the Mail library files, which have been locked down by Apple in macOS Catalina. As I've explained in my email reply regarding the other workflows, pop a post in the relevant thread for the workflows you're having issues with; Most of the ones you are describing are actively maintained, and should work smoothly on Catalina, so be descriptive with your issue (not "it doesn't work", be more specific as to whether you get an error message, let them know exactly which workflow version you're using, what you're typing into Alfred) and our lovely community will help you out. Cheers, Vero
  8. This goes without saying, you need to have Mail.app set up and in use, so the emails you're searching for must exist in your Mail inboxes Also, are you definitely on macOS Mojave, and not on Catalina? Apple have tightened restrictions further in Catalina, making it impossible for third parties to access mail content, so this workflow cannot be used in Catalina. Cheers, Vero
  9. @romebot There's no need to add anything to your search scope to use a workflow. If you're using v3 of the Mail workflow (linked below), it works great on Mojave As you've only recently installed Alfred 4, you may still need to go to Alfred's General preferences, click "Request permissions..." and make sure you've granted Alfred Accessibility and Full Disk Access. Let me know how you get on. Cheers, Vero
  10. @Chivalry Welcome to the forum Could you please first type "reload" into Alfred to refresh the application cache after rebuilding your Mac's index? How long ago had you installed Catalina? If it was very recent, it's possible that macOS was still in the process of performing its first indexing. If the issue persists after reloading, please let me know whether all apps or only specific ones are missing from your results, and I'll help you further Cheers, Vero
  11. @RobRoyce As suspected, all metadata is missing for your apps; There's nothing in there to identify them as applications, so they're not being returned in results. Spotlight is likely using an old cache, and would eventually refresh it, resulting in the same lack of results as you're seeing in Alfred. Here's an example of what metadata you should expect to see for Safari (it's actually much longer than this, but I've just taken the top section, as that's what's most relevant) As you can see, there's a full ContentTypeTree to tell us what the file is, and allows apps like Alfred to decide when and how to return it in results. Your next step will be to rebuild your Mac's index fully, which you can do from Alfred's Advanced preferences by clicking the "Rebuild macOS Metadata". Ensure that you check the box to delete the Spotlight-V100 Do not run other apps like Onyx, drive cleaners or other things that might meddle with your index. Just a straight up rebuilding should do the job. When Terminal appears, follow the instructions and keep a close eye for any error messages relating to your index. After you complete the rebuild, type "reload" into Alfred to refresh the cache. You can also check that the apps' metadata is back to normal by dragging Safari to the Metadata tool again. Let me know how you get on. Cheers, Vero
  12. @lammers01 Evernote needs to be running for the workflow to work as expected, but once launched, you can close the Evernote window - the app just needs to be running. Cheers, Vero
  13. @RobRoyce I've read through your thread, and it's a little tricky to establish where you're at now. Could you please confirm: Which version of Alfred are you using? If you're in Catalina, you should ensure you're using the latest Alfred 4 update (currently 4.0.8) Are you running macOS in Parallels or is it your primary install? What is your search scope set to? Do you need to reset it? Running things like "Clean Drive" could very well be removing essential files from your Mac, as well as seemingly unnecessary files. To troubleshoot this further, please download the Alfred Metadata Tool here: https://cachefly.alfredapp.com/tools/AlfredMetadataTool_v1.1.zip Install this, and drag in apps that Alfred doesn't find, such as Safari. Please paste the output of the Metadata Tool in your reply so that we can take a look at how complete it is. Next, please go to Alfred's Help tab, click the "Diagnostics" button, and email the file to our info@ email address so that I can take a look. (Please link to this thread in your email to help me trace back the conversation so far) Cheers, Vero
  14. As an update to all in this thread, I've contacted Airmail again to find out more about the error @Ehler provided, and to check whether any changes have been made that need to be reflected in the AppleScript used for this. As soon as we hear back from the Airmail team, I'll provide an update. Cheers, Vero
  15. @Ustrich I've had a reply from Airmail who advise that you should update to the latest version of Airmail 3. They haven't provided further details as to whether Airmail 2 is incompatible with macOS Catalina, but I would guess that could be why. @Ehler I'm not sure whether you've resolved the issue you were seeing in December, but the same answer applies where the Airmail support folks are asking users to please ensure they're on the latest version. Let me know how you get on Cheers, Vero
  16. Did you remove and re-grant as suggested? Did you try restarting your Mac? Have you renamed Airmail or moved it to an unusual location? Could you please try launching Console.app and seeing if there are any error messages? This is a feature that should work as expected and has been reported by other Airmail users as working fine, so you might need to put in a bit of legwork to help establish what's happening on your Mac specifically Cheers, Vero
  17. @Ustrich Did you grant Airmail full disk access as well? You can't do this from Alfred and will need to do it manually in the System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access. If you granted access before you upgraded to Catalina, you may need to remove apps and re-grant them permissions, as it seems some users are seeing permissions corruption when upgrading to Catalina, where macOS doesn't recognise that these apps already do have permission. Removing and re-adding solves the issue. Cheers, Vero
  18. @gingerbeardman Could you please share which version of Alfred, macOS and any dependencies of the workflow you're using? Also, when you look at the debug log, what do you see? https://www.alfredapp.com/help/workflows/advanced/debugger/ Cheers, Vero
  19. As suggested to earlier users, try removing and re-adding Alfred in the permissions; When upgrading to Catalina, it seems some users' permissions become corrupted and macOS "forgets" the permissions. Re-granting permissions seems to have solved the issue for everyone. Cheers, Vero
  20. @zjrollyson The first thing to do is to update to a current version of Alfred, so start by updating to Alfred 4.0.7 from the Update tab Cheers, Vero
  21. @Micael Welcome to the forum! Could you provide links to the exact workflows in question? There are quite a few Google-related community-created workflows, so links will allow us to take a look at which ones you're using If there are already threads for those workflows on the forum, that would be your ideal starting point; Post a detailed message in that thread, letting the workflow creator know which version of macOS and Alfred you're using (and Google Drive version, as I believe there are a few for personal or business use), and exactly what error messages you're getting. Alfred doesn't connect to Google, so it'll be something between the workflow and Google (which could be as simple as the workflow needing a little update if Google have updated some APIs or landing pages the workflow relies on). Cheers, Vero
  22. @Few questions about alfred Your license is for your use only, and should not be shared with anyone else. If a friend or family member wants to use the Powerpack, they'll need to purchase their own license. You can use your license on two Macs concurrently, provided both Macs are for your own use and not shared computers. Cheers, Vero
  23. @mspCCMA Could you please provide more details, so that I can help you further? - Which version of Alfred and macOS are you using? - Are snippets enabled in Alfred's preferences? - Is the specific snippet enabled for expansion? - When you try to expand a snippet, at what stage does it fail? E.g. Does the snippet disappear and partially pasted, or is nothing pasted at all? Do you hear an error beep? - Does the issue occur in all apps or only some apps? Test in TextEdit, which is one of the simplest apps, as some more complex apps or browsers have their own clipboard management or behaviours that may cause issues - Do you use any third-party clipboard managers or snippets tools that may be interfering? The more details you provide, the quicker I can help you troubleshoot what's happening Cheers, Vero
  24. @mspCCMA There's no need to revert to an older version, as snippets should work perfectly in Catalina. If you've upgraded to Catalina, you may need to remove and re-add Alfred to the permissions, as some users experienced permissions corruption in the OS upgrade. Just remove Alfred from accessibility and full disk access, then re-add (via Alfred's General preferences tab, or manually), and you should be all sorted. If the issue persists, please let me know and I'll help you further Cheers, Vero
  25. @Anil Agrawal Have you tried deleting the file and re-downloading from https://www.alfredapp.com ? It may be that your download was incomplete and you'll just need to grab a new copy from our website Cheers, Vero
