@srb1961 You're using a Big Sur beta, which in itself is a huge unknown factor. However, if the mouse pointer is in Alfred's view and is moving imperceptibly, this would cause Alfred to highlight that row, regardless of OS version. We'll be testing every feature on Big Sur thoroughly once it's a few beta builds in. From experience, the first few beta builds of a new macOS release evolve quickly (sometimes resolving bugs, sometimes introducing others), with significant changes in every update. Soon, we'll be doing our full testing, but at this time, it's essentially still a development build.

@briansurg I'm trying to understand your objective, rather than the process you think is best. Is your aim to open a folder, then select a file, opening it in its default app or a non-default app? All of this is possible with the Powerpack, and doesn't necessitate opening the macOS file menu. There are many ways to reach the goal you have in mind, but it's unproductive for us to help you create a workflow at this stage, as I understand you're still not a Powerpack user. Once you've clarified the goal (rather than the process) you want to achieve, and you're equipped with your Powerpack license, we'll be able to help you further Cheers, Vero

Could you please give more details on exactly which beta of Big Sur you're using? Links to the exact workflows you're trying to import? @briansurg When you say "the file menu", do you mean Alfred's File Navigation? Or the macOS menu? It's possible, with the Powerpack, to create workflows to perform different actions depending on which app is currently in focus. If you clarify exactly what you want to achieve out of the process, we'll be able to confirm what's possible. With regards to the post being hidden - I'm the one who hid it temporarily, while trying to manage the forum from my phone on a Saturday afternoon. I'd misread the post at a glance and read it as though you were declining to provide a Powerpack license. I now see it's a case of reading too quickly, and your thread is visible again. I will however take the liberty of closing and hiding your other thread debating with @vitor the merits of my decision. This is a friendly forum where we, as the creators of Alfred, and the community do our best to help users. There was no ill intent, and the thread in question is no longer relevant. @franco-allemande Apologies for missing your post last week! Yes, you'll be able to use your license on your new Mac. With the Single User license, you can activate on two Macs concurrently, provided they're for your own use and not shared workstations. With the Mega Supporter license, you can activate on up to four Macs, again, provided they're for your own use only. If you're getting rid of your old Mac, you can deactivate your license by popping up Alfred's preferences to the Powerpack tab, viewing your license and choosing Deactivate. Cheers, Vero

Where is your mouse when you're doing this? Could it be that your mouse is hovered over that result and Big Sur is treating it as selection? Please say exactly which Big Sur build and Alfred version you're using to make this useful. [Moving this thread to the Bugs section for Big Sur, as this is a beta.]

@pablonm Could you please launch Alfred's preferences to the General tab and follow these steps? - Click Request Permissions - Click Accessibility - Remove Alfred from the Accessibility preferences if he's already in there - Quit Alfred - Re-add Alfred to Accessibility preferences - Try your snippets again in a native app like TextEdit All should be back to normal As macOS Catalina is still buggy, it can forget about permissions, so resetting like this re-establishes that Alfred should have the necessary permissions to paste clipboard and snippet items for you. @dp_ucsd Could you please update to Alfred 4.1, go to Help > Troubleshooting > Run Troubleshooting, and drag in a few files from your mounted drive? Please paste the output here so that we can take a look at what might be missing for Alfred to search your mounted drive. Cheers, Vero

@WillGreen98 When you say "nothing" is showing up, are some apps showing and others not? Can Spotlight find them? If I've understood correctly, are you saying you did a clean install of macOS Catalina? Or just Alfred? The latter won't help find apps if the underlying macOS index is missing the apps. You'll need to make sure you give macOS enough time to do its first indexing. If the issue persists, could you please update to the Alfred 4.1 pre-release by going to the Update tab, choosing "pre-releases" from the dropdown at the bottom, then updating. Once you've updated, go to the Help tab > Troubleshooting > Run Troubleshooting. Drag in files that you can't find; You'll see a report of whether your Mac has the correct metadata for it, whether the file in question is in your search scope, etc... You can paste the results in your reply here if you need further help.

@gpkashyap First, please make sure you're using Alfred 4.0.9 from https://www.alfredapp.com as Apple have moved default apps to a new location in macOS Catalina. It looks like you may be using the older App Store version of Alfred, which isn't aware of these changes. @dd426 @deanishe Is this in Big Sur or on the current OS? It may simply mean that the file is stored somewhere else, in a different format or requires different permissions so we'll need to take a look before assuming it's dead If it's Big Sur specific, it's worth reporting in the relevant forum section so that we can take a look into it. Please give as much detail as possible as to which Big Sur beta you're on, as I suspect these will move quite fast at the beginning, and things may get naturally fixed as the beta matures. @chris Yup, looks like when I re-wrote the new Dynamic Placeholders page (now found here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/workflows/advanced/placeholders/) I missed out the cursor. I've added it now. It's a fairly self-explanatory one using {cursor}, and it's included in the placeholders list in-app (the square brackets bottom left of the Snippets content window includes examples of the various dynamic placeholders) but it's back in the docs now for completeness. @vamp07 As @deanishe says, your clipboard can contain information that isn't suitable for syncing (e.g. work data that isn't intended for you to take home, or to sync via Dropbox) Where you want to save specific bits of content to be synced, you can press Cmd + S in the Clipboard Viewer. This will pop up the Snippets preferences so that you can save the clip as a snippet. You can create a collection that's used for any of this data you want to save but don't need as an expansion snippet - just don't set a keyword and don't check the "Auto-expansion" box for that item. It'll then be synced as part of your snippets collections Cheers, Vero

@Hakanido Welcome to the forum. Which app are you trying to paste in? The beep is an error sound that there is no window in focus and therefore the pasting can't happen. Try opening TextEdit in plain text and test there. This is a macOS native app, so a good point of reference for testing things like these. If you still hear a beep when a TextEdit window is correctly in focus, check whether you're using any other apps that could be manipulating the clipboard (e.g. snippets apps, clipboard apps, keyboard modifier apps) and interfering with Alfred. @mikedvzo Your issue is unlikely to be at all related to the first two users in this thread; The first one had accidentally set both a prefix and a suffix for his snippet collection, which he wasn't including in the keyword he was typing, so he adjusted these and was sorted. The second stopped Cmd + V from pasting normally by allowing Keyboard Maestro to steal that hotkey combination, making it impossible for Alfred to paste to the frontmost app. Please provide more details if you're having issues. - When you try to expand a snippet, at what stage does it fail? E.g. Does the snippet disappear and partially pasted, or is nothing pasted at all? Do you hear an error beep? - Does the issue occur in all apps or only some apps? Test in TextEdit, which is one of the simplest apps, as some more complex apps or browsers have their own clipboard management or behaviours that may cause issues - Do you use any third-party clipboard managers or snippets tools that may be interfering? - When using WebEx, are you referring to pasting in a virtual or remote machine? The more information you can provide, the more likely we'll be able to help establish what's happening. Cheers, Vero

@rogbar Could you please let me know how you're searching for these files? I don't personally use either of those apps, but it's my understanding that they're the kind of apps where you might have a ton of files, right? If so, it might be worth creating your own File Filter for those. Here's a guide to creating a File Filter workflow, which can then be adjusted for your own file types: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/workflows/inputs/file-filter/ Alternatively, if you want these results in default results (which, if there are a lot of files, isn't recommended as it may clutter your results), you would also need to add the file types to Features > Default Results > Advanced for the file types at the top. @wealthychef It's on my current to-do list to update this page, as unfortunately Evernote has changed in such a way that it's no longer possible to include Evernote in search results in the way outlined on that page. Evernote name data folders, notes and attachments arbitrarily, so there are no useful file name or title metadata for Alfred to search. Alfred doesn't search file content in the default results as this would have the potential of slowing down results. I created a File Filter workflow for Evernote, with the view that you could then add other file types, e.g. PDFs, to your File Filter, but the results weren't very useful - see screenshot for an example. As such, at this point, I would recommend using the Evernote v9 beta 4 for the best results from Evernote, as this workflow takes care of processing the Evernote data in a more useful way.
