Vero got a reaction from Alan He in Question concerning Alfred License
@franco-allemande Apologies for missing your post last week! Yes, you'll be able to use your license on your new Mac.

With the Single User license, you can activate on two Macs concurrently, provided they're for your own use and not shared workstations. With the Mega Supporter license, you can activate on up to four Macs, again, provided they're for your own use only.

If you're getting rid of your old Mac, you can deactivate your license by popping up Alfred's preferences to the Powerpack tab, viewing your license and choosing Deactivate.

    Cheers,
    Vero

A few moments ago, we popped Alfred 4.1 on the pre-release channel. It's a big release with lots of tasty stuff for you to sink your teeth into.

New workflow objects for integrating with files and the File Buffer Shared Hotkeys for workflows Embedded Snippets Contact Actions Built-in File Search Troubleshooting from the Help preferences And loads more!
Take a look at the Update tab for a complete change log, as there's a lot in this release, which is free to all Alfred 4 Powerpack license holders.

We'd love to get your help in testing out the new features before the general release! To get started, launch Alfred's preferences to the Update tab, choose the "pre-releases" option and grab the latest build

@briansurg When you say "the file menu", do you mean Alfred's File Navigation? Or the macOS menu? It's possible, with the Powerpack, to create workflows to perform different actions depending on which app is currently in focus. If you clarify exactly what you want to achieve out of the process, we'll be able to confirm what's possible.

With regards to the post being hidden - I'm the one who hid it temporarily, while trying to manage the forum from my phone on a Saturday afternoon. I'd misread the post at a glance and read it as though you were declining to provide a Powerpack license. I now see it's a case of reading too quickly, and your thread is visible again.

I will however take the liberty of closing and hiding your other thread debating with @vitor the merits of my decision. This is a friendly forum where we, as the creators of Alfred, and the community do our best to help users. There was no ill intent, and the thread in question is no longer relevant.

If you opt to buy a Powerpack license, and fill in your forum details accordingly, at that stage we'll be able to help you create a workflow for your use

    Hey @Wayne Yao

With great pleasure. Note that I took some liberty in some parts (the README file, comments in the code, etc.), because I thought you did no longer work on the workflow.
Of course you are absolutely free to reverse these changes! I am just happy to contribute to your workflow (that I like very much!)

Thanks for the great improvement! I'll check it out later. Would you mind make a PR to me? so that I can integrate to the original code base. And of course kudos will be yours.

Hi @genosse, welcome to the forum.

I think my Searchio workflow can do what you want.

After it’s installed, enter searchio in Alfred to open the settings, choose “All Engines”, then “Wikipedia”, then search for “russian” (or “Русский”) to create a search engine for the Russian version of Wikipedia.

It also supports Yandex and the Russian versions of many other search engines.

Alternatively, use Ctrl+Shift+Cmd+4, which puts the screenshot on the clipboard instead of saving it to your desktop. Then it will appear in Alfred's clipboard history.

Vero got a reaction from functionalStoic in Find a file on an external drive?
Alfred uses OS X's index, so adding paths to the search scope tells Alfred where you want him to look. Adding the external drive is the right way to include it in your Alfred search.

You could also create a file filter workflow if you want to specifically search for files on your external drive without seeing anything from your main drive. Here's a tutorial on creating file filters:

@tianshilei1992 If you go to the Workflows tab, click the [+] in the bottom left, under Templates > Clipboard > you'll find a "Paste as plain text from clipboard" workflow. Add your own hotkey, and you'll be able to do exactly what you need

Vero got a reaction from MasterBruce in Integration with "universal bookmarks"? Any ideas?
@MasterWayne Any integration with third party apps like this will require the Powerpack, so you'll first need to get a license, so that you can use workflows.

Please make sure that you fill in your registered email address in your forum profile once you've purchased your license.

Vero got a reaction from Artur0 in Opening a browser tab to URL based on clipboard contents
    @2Pants Welcome to the forum

If Chrome your default browser? If so, the lowest-setup option is to copy your URL, pop up Alfred and paste the URL, and hit Enter. Alfred will launch your default browser with the URL.

Alternatively, you can create a simple hotkey-based workflow.
Add a hotkey object and set the argument to either Clipboard Content or selection in macOS. Connect the hotkey object to an "Open URL" object, leaving the {query} in the URL field. Pick the browser you want it to open in, and save.   This assumes you're copying a complete URL with http:// or https:// - If you're not, you can add that in front of the query for your Open URL object.

Hi Laurent, launch Alfred's preferences to Appearance > Options and you'll be able to set Alfred to appear on default screen, mouse screen or, if you're using OS X 10.9 Mavericks, on the active screen (where your current active app is). It's all in there

Vero got a reaction from danielha in Mail.app search by author, subject or content [For macOS Mojave & earlier]
In macOS Catalina, Apple have removed access for third-party apps to Mail.app results by excluding it from the Spotlight metadata that apps like Alfred can use to return results. As such, the workflow won't return any results, as macOS no longer returns any Mail results.

Here's a thread including responses from an Apple employee explaining what's happened to the Spotlight index. Within this thread, there's a somewhat possible workaround of copying the Mail folder to a different folder within your Home folder (e.g. in Documents), it becomes indexable. However, we can't advise doing this and you'd be doing so at your own risk, as it could cause other issues.

    https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/121187#379221

We are hopeful that Apple will realise that this is necessary to third-parties and bring this back.

Vero got a reaction from yewty in Open Alfred Preferences Screen with Hotkey?
It's possible to set a hotkey to open your Alfred Preferences - No need for AppleScript in this instance

    - Create a workflow connecting a hotkey to a Launch Apps/Files object
    - Navigate to Alfred in your Applications folder
    - Right-click and choose "Show package contents"
    - Within Contents > Preferences, you'll find the Alfred Preferences app, which you can drag as the application to launch in Alfred
    - Set a hotkey of your choice

Close Alfred's preferences then use your newly set hotkey to re-open them quickly!

I just wanted to let you know that I did try to test it out in as systematically as I could - however I could not replicate the problem by going through the test cases like this. The waking and sleeping alone doesn't produce this problem. Maybe it has to go into hibernation in order to manifest itself.
