  1. @godbout If you change Alfred's hotkey combo to something obscure that definitely isn't used by another app you're using, what behaviour do you see? As I said, it still feels like a hotkey conflict so the first thing to try is to change the hotkey away from the coveted Cmd + Space or anything that could be used by another tool on your Mac.
  2. @greedist I've merged your post with the existing thread on the Google Drive workflow created by @vitor as it's best to keep the discussion in one place.
  3. @Gower Welcome to the forum - Could you please fill in your Powerpack email address in your forum profile? This is only visible to me, but allows us to confirm your Powerpack status, as you're asking Workflows-specific questions Once you've done this, please share your workflow so that we can help you further. Cheers, Vero
  4. @luckman212 Can I confirm that if you use alfred:ignore on a native app, then type "reload", the app disappears from results? The issue is exclusively with Adobe apps? If you use Alfred's File troubleshooting tool to take a look at the metadata of an app after you've added the alfred:ignore, is it correctly showing in the metadata? In much older versions of macOS, I recall that macOS sometimes failed to "stick" comments when they were added. I haven't personally experienced this on Big Sur or Monterey, but that could be what's happening to you. Honestly, Adobe apps have never behaved like normal Mac apps; they may not even be proper apps on your drive as they're part of the Creative Cloud, so you may have to add them to Spotlight's Privacy tab, and create a workflow with keywords > Open File for the ones you do want to see in your Alfred results.

@d0g Welcome to the forum! I've already responded to your questions to our support address earlier, so please take a look at your inbox and let us know by email if I can answer any questions
  6. @luckman212 I've just tested this on Monterey, setting a comment of alfred:ignore on an app and using the "reload" keyword, and it worked fine. Are the actual Adobe apps in /Applications/Utilities/ or are they somewhere else on your disk? Moving out of bugs, as it doesn't appear to be a bug, and other Adobe Creative Cloud users may have suggestions on this. Cheers, Vero
  7. @godbout I've watched your video and it's very difficult to make out what you're doing without explanation or a view of your keypresses. It looks like there may still be something interfering with your hotkey combo; If you change Alfred's hotkey combo to something obscure that definitely isn't used by another app you're using, what behaviour do you see? Cheers, Vero
  8. If there's a crash, the log will still be available in Console under the Crash Logs header in the sidebar even if it happened a little while ago. I'll take a look at your video and get back to you if we need more information.
  9. Could you pop an email to our info@ address with a link to it? Stick it on iCloud or Dropbox temporarily? Also, if Alfred *crashes*, could you please send any crash logs? I haven't heard of an actual Alfred crash in a very long time so I'd be very interested in taking a look at any logs you have from Console. Cheers, Vero
  10. Aside from Google Drive, is everything else found in your searches? Google Drive is a completely different beast and unrelated to this thread. An update to Google Drive in recent months has caused Spotlight and macOS to stop indexing the files. Google is very opaque about what's happening under the hood with Google Drive so we don't know whether they intend to re-enable indexing in the future. If you take a look at this thread, @vitor has created an excellent Google Drive search workflow: Cheers, Vero
  11. @daanjj If you want to match on letters that are in the middle of a word like "nw" for Network, switch the App Matching mode from "Fuzzy Capital Letters" to "Full fuzzy match from word boundary" in the preferences > Default Results > Applications > Options... button at the very top of that preference pane. https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/default-results/#apps-matching This will then match on any letter within the word, such as "ps" for Photoshop or "nw" for Network. It may make your results slightly noisier and less accurate at first, but as you start choosing the right app for the keyword of your choice, as suggested by Deanishe, the right file/app will come to the top for that keyword. Cheers, Vero
  12. @godbout @fonginator Sounds like there's a hotkey conflict. Please check your Spotlight hotkey, which was likely reset to cmd + space by macOS on upgrade to Monterey. This would result in the exact behaviour you're seeing. Also, as you're likely both using multiple languages, check that it's not being used by the language switching or the Siri "hold Cmd Space to speak" feature. https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/cmd-space/ Cheers, Vero
  13. @Floating.Point Thank you for pointing this out, and no need to feel like a doofus! I've updated the page to be a little more explicit about indexing issues (and will keep an eye out for anywhere else I might make it more obvious too as I update more pages in the next few weeks) This should make it a little clearer Cheers, Vero
  14. The troubleshooting report you've provided indicates that your Mac's metadata is completely missing, so Spotlight might be working off a temporary cache for now, but will eventually also exhibit the same issue of files not being found. The first steps to follow when results seem unexpected is to rebuild your Mac's metadata. It's usually because the data being provided by macOS is incorrect (even if it appears correct in the current Spotlight cache), and rebuilding ensures that all this information is refreshed by the OS. Even if you believe you've already reindexed, please follow the steps below specifically (as it involves deleting a cache first and ensuring Terminal has suitable permissions). First, please pop open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access and add Terminal Once you've done this, go to Alfred's Advanced preferences, choose "Rebuild macOS Metadata" Ensure that you check "Delete .Spotlight-V100 before reindex" Follow the steps in Terminal, and keep a close eye for any error messages relating to your index. Please let me know if there are any errors. Otherwise, if it proceeds smoothly, you may need to wait up to an hour for the reindex to complete. Once this is done, make your searches again and see if your results are more as expected. If your issue persists, please provide the following information: Your diagnostics file, by typing ?diagnostics into Alfred (which you can email to our info@ address) Examples of the File Troubleshooting reports for the files you cannot find using Alfred and whether they still show the broken metadata Cheers, Vero
  15. @Druboi Take a look at Alfred's built-in examples by clicking the [+] at the bottom of the sidebar > Examples > Dynamic File Search. The built-in workflow lets you choose a folder then search for files within it; You can tweak the second object to include kMDItemTextContent if you want to search the content of those files (equivalent to the "in" keyword) or leave it as-is if you just want to search file names. From there, you can get fancier if you have more specific parameters in mind, but that should get you started Cheers, Vero
  16. Just to be clear, this information was available in my very first reply 14 days ago, in step 5 of the indexing troubleshooting guide I had indicated should be read carefully. I'm thrilled this is solved but for you, and for all future users who come across this thread, please read the steps we provide carefully; They're there for a reason. Cheers, Vero
  17. @ryzor @jpage4500 It looks like Apple has re-adjusted the hyphen behaviour in Monterey, and for some other scenarios they did this earlier in Big Sur. We've been investigating for the benefit of this thread and another related thread, and it's all working as expected on both Big Sur and Monterey: These changes on Apple's part should help anyone experiencing the issue described earlier in this thread As it looks like it's all resolved in current macOS versions, I'll close this thread, but let us know if your observations differ. Cheers, Vero
  18. @Xage Can I confirm that you've done a full rebuild as per the instructions in my earlier post, including granting Terminal Full Disk Access and deleting the Spotlight-V100? https://www.alfredforum.com/topic/17462-file-search-in-macos-monterey/?do=findComment&comment=90299 Next, please follow Andrew's instructions to add paths to your search scope: https://www.alfredforum.com/topic/17462-file-search-in-macos-monterey/?do=findComment&comment=90398 If the issue persists, could you please be more specific as to what apps aren't found, what location they're in, etc, as the instructions above seem to have resolved everyone else's issues, so it's possible you've just missed a step. Cheers, Vero
  19. @Adam Duff If you downloaded Alfred 1.2 from the Mac App Store, please delete it and download Alfred 4 from https://www.alfredapp.com to make the most of all the up to date features Cheers, Vero
  20. @pubay If you've tried quitting all potentially interfering apps and it still happens, try creating a new vanilla user account on your Mac with just Alfred running (you can activate your Powerpack on it) and try it there to confirm there's no misbehaviour. You can then revert to your primary account and work by elimination; Take a look at Activity Monitor if you need to jog your memory as to what background apps you may have installed that are running and could be interfering.
  21. Summarising the recent email exchanges with @Drabideaux He added the following two paths to his index, and rebuilt the metadata index including deleting checking the box to "Delete .Spotlight-V100" during the process. /Applications /System/Applications A few days later, on following up, I suggested resetting the search scope to defaults (using the Reset Search Scope button in Features > Default Results), and drabideaux is still finding all files. I have a suspicion that if just an index rebuild had been done, macOS would've eventually sorted itself out. At this point, I think everyone who has mentioned they're having indexing issues after migrating settings to their new Monterey Mac is all sorted. I'll leave this thread open, should anyone else be encountering this issue, but the conclusion is rebuild your Mac's index from Alfred's Advanced preferences, check the box to delete Spotlight-V100, and the issue should be resolved shortly thereafter. Keep in mind this is a brand new version of macOS, with quirks of its own. Cheers, Vero
  22. @tcm Welcome to the forum. You're seeing the same issue as discussed in the thread linked below, where users who migrated from another Mac and up to Monterey are seeing temporary indexing issues. It seems that after a proper metadata rebuild (please follow instructions in the linked post closely), the issue's resolved. I'm closing this thread as it's a duplicate and it's best to keep discussion of the same issue in one place. Cheers, Vero
  23. @pubay Are you using any third-party apps that respond to keypresses, such as a keyboard remapper or hotkey modifier app of some sort? It sounds like another app is interfering and dispatching other key presses. Please quit anything from the menu bar or background apps, and try again. Could you also let us know what hotkey combination you're trying to set? As usual, please confirm which version of Alfred and macOS you're using Cheers, Vero
  24. @Steve Ball Could you please email your Diagnostics file to our info@ address? You can get the diagnostics by typing "?diagnostics" into Alfred. Also, could you please take a look at what browser plugins or third-party apps you have that could be stealing focus? As @deanishe suggests, Alfred only tells macOS to open the web search, so it's likely something is interfering and stealing focus. Have you tried changing some hotkeys and disabling browser plugins, quitting background/menu bar apps that could cause the interference? Cheers, Vero
  25. This "corp" you speak of consists of two people, Andrew and myself. As I said in my earlier response, we very carefully consider every feature that is added to ensure that there is a true need for it, and that it'll be reliable and predictable into the future. As others have highlighted, there are very capable workflows for this purpose. Cheers, Vero
