Vero got a reaction from MichaelD in How to add "SEARCH in FINDER" option to fallback searches?
@s95hc8 There's an even simpler way to search using Finder (Spotlight's Finder search); Go to Alfred's Advanced preferences, and have a look at the three options below the Action Modifier in the right column.

Alt + Return should be set to "Search with Spotlight" by default, but you can use any of these modifiers, so that you can simply hit Alt + Return on your query to launch Finder with the relevant search.

Vero got a reaction from sallyhong in Hotkey to quickly edit existing snippet
@Chris Messina It's working. This feature refers to popping up either the Clipboard Viewer or Snippet Viewer, select an individual snippet (not a collection) and press Cmd + S.

If it was already a snippet, you'll be editing it, while if it was a clipboard item, you'll be creating a new snippet from it.

It's not something you do when you're already in the preferences.

Vero got a reaction from Alan He in Clipboard Manager should have possibility to remove entry from history
@Sane You can clear your entire clipboard history by typing "clear" in Alfred's main search box and choosing whether you want to erase the last 5 minutes, 15 minutes or all of Alfred's history.

Alternatively, you can clear single items with Fn (Function key) + Delete (backspace key).

Vero got a reaction from Merchako in Cannot find apps in the Setapp folder (Catalina)
@Jeff_314 If you prefix your search with the spacebar (which broadens the file search), does the app appear in results?

Even when the information appears to be correct in the metadata, it can be beneficial to rebuild your index (and solves the vast majority of index-related issues)

To do this fully, please follow these steps carefully:
    - Grant Terminal Full Disk Access
    - Go to Alfred's Advanced preferences and click "Rebuild macOS Metadata"
    - Check the box to delete Spotlight-V100
    - Go through to Terminal, enter your password then keep a close eye for any error messages relating to the index

Once the process has completed, type "reload" into Alfred and try searching again. Let me know how you get on.

Vero got a reaction from cocoaaa in Select multiple results in the Clipboard history
@lemikeone This is already possible, depending on what you're trying to achieve.

For example, if you take a look at Alfred's built-in Getting Started workflows, which you can access in the Workflows preferences, under the [+] button > Getting Started > Clipboard, you'll find a "mergeclipboard" example:

The content of the Copy to Clipboard object is
    {clipboard:2}, {clipboard:1}...
    {clipboard:3}

Which means it'll paste three clipboard items at once. You can even set the "Mark as transient" option to avoid this item being added back into your clipboard.

Alternatively, there's the option of using Snippet Triggers to paste the clipboard content, so that you can be more granular in which item you're pasting, all without popping up the Clipboard Viewer.

If you can provide an example of what you're trying to do, we can help you work out the best way to do it

    Cheers,
    Vero

Vero got a reaction from bounce in In file actions how do I add custom copy to location bookmarks?
@bounce There's no need to pre-define any destinations. Just type the name of the folder you want the first time you want to move a file to it, and Alfred will remember and add it to the list for next time. The list will grow over time as you use the feature

@roeniss Alfred 5 has added a wealth of new features, especially in relation to workflows. Based on your other thread, it sounds like you actively use and create workflows so would benefit from these improvements!

You can find a summary of some of the Alfred 5 features here:
    https://www.alfredapp.com/alfred-5-whats-new/

In particular, you'll likely enjoy using the Automation Tasks, which make creating workflows so much easier. This post covers just a few of the Automation Tasks available:
    https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/guides-and-tutorials/introduction-to-automation-tasks/

Alfred 5 will also continue to provide support for the changes in macOS that occur every year with Apple's new releases. And you'll of course be supporting us, the Alfred team, by upgrading to Alfred 5

    @roeniss Welcome to the forum

If your colleagues are already well versed in using version control software, I'd suggest sharing your workflows via a (public or private) Github. We've written a guide to adding your own workflows to Github:
    https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/guides-and-tutorials/share-workflow-on-github/

As well, if you feel that these workflows would benefit community members outside of your immediate team, the Alfred Gallery is coming soon, so you could submit the workflows for inclusion, provided they meet the requirements:

Vero got a reaction from beetlefrosch in Exclude Folders for Searching?
@beetlefrosch You can open Spotlight's Privacy tab and drag that folder so that archives aren't indexed by macOS (and therefore aren't returned in results to Alfred)

If this archive included apps, you can type "reload" into Alfred to refresh the application cache as well

It's difficult to say why you've seen this issue, but this could be caused by a corrupted download or a firewall or software manipulating the downloaded file.

Vero got a reaction from DanP in Alfred suddenly stopped searching OneDrive files - and existing advice hasn't helped.
@drjmcmillan Microsoft have just announced major changes to their products over the past few days, which is likely the source of your issue.

From Microsoft's own OneDrive announcement page's comments section:

"Spotlight can no longer index the folders, well maybe it will, but the ability to search has gone for the time being until, if, it sorts itself out. This is a major failing.”

As far as I can see, it may be as simple as adding ~/Library/CloudStorage to your search scope, so could you please try this?

[Edited to add: The issue you're linking to is a bug in macOS Monterey's Migration Assistant and is documented here. With the help of our wonderful community, we were able to establish what the issue was, and provide workaround solutions to the macOS bug.]

Vero got a reaction from panel in Missing preference item icons
@Rwinner @igor.wojda The missing icons are a bug in macOS Ventura, and something we've seen happen a few times over the years when Apple does a major OS update. Take a look below to see what Finder is showing in Monterey vs Ventura.

In the past, Apple have fixed this within a few point releases, but we are keeping an eye on the situation.

@jjaybe You can create a CSV file outside of Alfred, which will give you free reign to copy and paste as much as you need, and edit the list as a whole with title, subtitle and arg.

    For example:
    A bunch of grapes,grape,code123
    A bowl of bananas,banana,code432
    A bushel of apples,apple,code043

Once you're happy, drag your CSV into the List Filter box and you'll see it auto-populate

Vero got a reaction from Alan He in Alfred cannot find files after installing Dropbox Beta for CloudStorage (Intel)
Thank you to those who've been able to give us additional information so far.

We've put a new Alfred 5.0.4 b2093 out a few moments ago, which includes an easier way to reset your Search Scope to a pre-defined scope.

For users where Alfred's Default search scope isn't returning the expected files, please click the "Reset..." button in Features > Default Results and select "Reset to Applications and Home".

If this doesn't work, try the "Reset to Full Disk" scope.

@AllanN Could you please set your scope to "Reset to Applications and Home" and let me know whether you're seeing the results you expect? Thanks for your help!

@mikedvzo It's tricky to parse what you've done based on these messages so could you please set your Alfred preferences to be stored in a your home directory, in a locally stored folder (not Documents or Desktop, which most users sync via iCloud) and leave it as unsynced.

From my understanding of your replies, you are immediately re-setting a synced remote location. The objective here is to establish whether you see normal behaviour when the preferences remain unsynced.

Please keep it that way for at least a few days, and see what behaviour you get. This will help focus the issue on whether your issue is specifically caused by syncing or not.

Vero got a reaction from swiss-mike in Alfred cannot find files after installing Dropbox Beta for CloudStorage (Intel)
We're investigating this and will respond as soon as possible; Dropbox has changed the location of files for users using various locations and methods quite a few times over the past two years, so we'll need to establish what their intentions are this time.

We're also working on putting in additional checks in Alfred's File Troubleshooting, which will provide more insight into issues like these.

If anyone receives any feedback from Dropbox themselves, please do share this insight here as it may be helpful.
